Stacy,

LOL.

Stop buying it.

lol

No really, can you try to buy and acquire a taste for lower calorie ice cream. I ate a lot of sf banana Popsicle from Krogers and a lot of low calorie fudge bars. Then eventually I would eat fruit bars.

Also make yourself accountable as Dr Phil says.

Just tonight I told my husband something I wanted to do 3 times a day. Nothing dirty. tee hee

I told him if when he came home from work tomorrow I had not done it twice I could not watch ANY night time TV . I could not record it either. Believe me unless I go mad tomorrow I plan on keeping my end of the deal. I am scared but excited because I know this has worked for me in the past with exercise.

Hope this helps,

edie

What a clever idea Edie!

And Slim- I feel your pain.. we have a Bruster's Ice Cream down the road with Birthday Cake Icecream that is worth getting fat for LOL!!

I know it would be great right now, and during mushies.. but I've just told myself NO-and don't get it. Don't buy anymore ice cream!

There ARE some low-sugar, low-carb etc ice creams that really are worth trying out there, if you feel you have to have it.. but really, if you feel like you HAVE to have it that much, why not cut yourself off. Empower yourself :)

That's what I did with cokes! NO MORE COKES! EVAH! Hehehe

I love the dairy queen sundae's...yum, hot fudge! But when I read the nutritional info and realized that I could eat a box of sugar free fudgsicles instead it was quite eye-opening. I do love the fudgesicles, so I don't feel like I'm totally depriving myself. :)

Go get some of those 10 calorie frozen ice pops that you can buy in crate size lol . I love them things. Another thing I have been doing is making slushy's out of crystal lite with a blender.

I agree with the others, There are a lot of good ice creams that are made with mostly splenda. You still have to read the labels because some of them seem misleading but they dont taste bad!

Thanks for the support! I think the best way is to cut off completely! That is the only way for me.

Good for you! That's how me and coke are.. if I get a sip of diet coke, I'll want the real coke.. and I'll obsess about it until I get it.

Good luck! JUST SAY NO!! :guess

See, I'm going to give different advice. If you're really really craving something, I say have some of it. Here's why. A craving can be moderated. When you want something and tell yourself, "NO, I can't have it" is when your brain starts to rebel. Soon it's not just a craving, but something much closer to an obsession. And when you get to that point, you're going to overeat.

When I crave ice cream, I go and buy one scoop, or one of he "Personals" or somehow, through my purchase, moderate my portion. I eat my serving, my craving is taken care of. Had I bought the gallon, I would have eaten it just because it was there, and that's where I don't want to go.

ice cream is my most favorite food. Now its also one of those danger foods. So now when I want to eat it I have to be careful. I can only have a little bit at one time because its high calorie. So I have to figure how much I am allowed based on calorie content (200 calories worth). Then I measure out that amount. Then the ice cream gets put away. Then I go eat my ice cream. And then I think, that was good! I have different kinds too. I have plain vanilla. I have low fat. I have sherbert. I have Ben and Jerry's. So depending on my needs I can have the variety that best suits them. And I don't eat it every day. But I used to. And if its not satisfying me then that tells me I need to eat something else like Protein.< /p>

OMG. ICE CREAM!! Nooooooo! Haha. That is my total weakness. I (SERIOUSLY!) used to eat a 1/2 gallon carton 2-3 times a week! Dang. No wonder I'm huge!

OK, and have you ever tried those low carb and low fat ice creams? I'm on the toilet before I get halfway through the carton. Of course, one shouldn't eat that much...I'm just saying...

If you HAVE to have it, go for the real thing. Get what you want and get it out of the way. I'm not banded yet, but I've already had serious discussions with myself about the evilness of ice cream. I'm with Wheetsin about just buying one scoop, or the small personal things.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
