Lapband to sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I'm fixing to have my band taken out because it has slipped and they are doing the sleeve at the same time. I'm super excited and also super nervous! Any advice would be great I'm just not sure how different the sleeve will be. Is it better or worse? Thanks :)

I get a surgery date on the 6th

From what I have read it is very similar, but of course no fills! I also have a lap band and am getting it removed and a revision on October 2. Really close!!! I will keep you posted. Mine hasn't slipped, just not working as well and after having it for 8 years my dear hubby is nervous about slippage or erosion, so I am more than willing to try the sleeve!

Good luck!

Thanks! Good luck! I have had mine almost 3 years and I couldn't even keep down Water until they unfilled it. So ready for a new start!

Good luck. I have my revision scheduled for the 20th of Oct. I am so nervous, but ready to get this torturous device out of me!

Me too I'm just nervous reading about the people who said the sleeve didn't work and they had no restriction. I hope that won't be our case. I guess when I go in the 6th I need to ask her how small she will be making my stomach.

Goodluck ladies!!

Im one week from 6 mo and dwn 55 pounds and dwn 2 dress sizes!! I am band to sleeve, banded 2005 and revision 2014. Yesssss i noticed i am a slower wls patient than virgin sleevers and i was told i would be by the dr! I am still happy and proud of my results! I always have restriction and the first 3 mo i was not hungry ever i just ate because i had to and was on a schedule. I love my sleeve and its 110 PERCENT better than the band

No COMPLICATIONS and no ISSUES with stuck food, throwing up, no problems with RESTRICTIONS and No Gerd

@ifein229

The only food that I tried twice and could not eat is fried food...yes I dumped...severe abdominal cramps, sweating, chills and runs for abt 30-45 min and abt 10 min after I ate it both times I tried to eat something fried....everything else I have no problem with, i just eat in small quanities...fruit, veggies, salads, dairy products, bread...i can eat one slice of pizza!

My doctor said it depends on your job. We talked today and he is going to allow me (if I feel up to it) to return to work on Thursday when surgery is on Monday. I have a desk job. We will see how it goes!

I have a desk job and my dr took me off for 3 weeks....honestly I could have went back after 3 days. They did my paperwork for time off the week b4 surgery so of course I didnt know what type of pain I would be in! We are all different and will experience diff pain and recovery differently....I was pain free and had a speedy recovery

I hope that's how it is for me. I have 2 weeks scheduled off but I really don't want to use all of it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
