I'm right there with you. Surgery on the 4th pre-op diet. Uugh makes me hungry just thinking about it. It'll be worth it though:)

That's what I have to keep telling myself! I am on all liquids, since last Wednesday. It's been rough but I just keep focusing on how I'm going to feel a year from now!

My surgery is on 11/4. This is day four (of fourteen) of pre-op diet. My doc allows me two shakes a day and a sensible meal all to stay under 1000 calories. It's RIDICULOUSLY difficult for me. Strangely enough, exercise helps keep my mind off it. I see people eating food and my mind just goes into "wanting that" mode. Even stuff I don't like!

But, this is just temporary and I remind myself that it's a mental game and I CAN WIN. I'll get to eat the foods I love again, it just may be awhile. (I miss you, cheese).

If anybody wants to buddy up on this preop diet, let me know. There's no such thing as too much support for me.

Also, to the person who was asking about yummy Protein Shakes, I buy Trutein. It's s little pricey (and only online) but it's so good. I recommend the pb chocolate cup, banana, and lemon meringue. Their plain chocolate and vanilla are yummy too. Best tasting shake I've ever had (and I tried a lot!)

I want a buddy :-) I'm on day 4 as well and doing ok. Feeling really tired though and killer headaches. I do miss cheese lol. I agree that it's a mental game and I'm winning so far.

I've had the headaches too. Tylenol has helped. Are you allowed food on your preop diet? Or just liquids?

I fear the liquid only diet. I know it's happening soon for me but we have to do what we have to do to make us healthier. As for Crystal Light or any sugarless drink or food I get bad headaches from the fake sugars so they are out for me. I do like Water though and it's what I drink normally as I gave up soda many years ago. I do have a cup of Decaf in the morning and occasionally tea (decaf is fine) and even rarer--a hot cocoa.

strangely, i'm not as afraid of the liquid diet since i had to do only Clear Liquids for a day prior to my colonoscopy/endoscopy. of course, that was only one day, but during that day i learned that i can be hungry and not die lol. also, i am very lucky that my surgeon only requires 4 days of liquids pre-op. i reallllly feel for you that need to do more.

I'm kind of an exception because I have a very short availability window to have surgery this year. And I didn't start seeing my surgeon until the end of August. He's strict on requiring a pre-op weight loss and my required amount was 38lbs. Tried just eating healthy the first month and only lost 9lbs. Switched to three shakes and a lean protein/non-starchy veggie dinner. Lost about 16 in three weeks but still had 13 to go so dietician put me in full liquids a week ago today. Only 7 pounds to go!!! Yay!

OMG, OMG, OMG!! Got approval from my insurance and got all my pre-op and post-op appointments. Surgery date is Nov. 17!! So excited but also nervous! Any buddies for that date?? I need buddies!

I also was told I won't need to be on a liquid diet for weeks but I will be on a speciall meal plan and liquids the day before. I'll find out for sure during my class on this Tues. Changes on the horizon!

Congratulations Angirue that's a great weight loss. Dr. Walton is strict, but he has the patients best interest. My daughter could have had her surgery around the first week of November but she hadn't completely quit smoking :). So now she is motivated to be completely off cigarettes for her surgery on December 2. Good luck with your surgery and maybe we'll see each other at one of the support group meetings.

Well, I had my Endo yesterday. That was interesting. Went good but found out I have a hernia that needs to be repaired during surgery. Also I'm down 21lbs in my pre-op diet. Tuesday is my final weigh in and meeting with the Dr.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
