Oh, Pamela-

We are all very good. Thanks for asking. A is in San Jose right now for work. How close to you is that? I could get a map...we are talking about taking a long weekend and going there together, she'll work some but play otherwise.

We are still going to Vegas but every other lap band talk person who said they would go has backed out or disappeared. I know it was long ago we talked about it so I don't blame them. So the theme for our weekend there has shifted form LBT to having a good time, just us. At anyrate, we'll be there in January, think you might drive up?

Sorry to hear you're super tight. That's a bitch. I'm looking forward to being tight and losing some weight again. Ugh. Was all that food yummy and Germanish? I miss Germanish food. :(

Juli~

Thanks for the clarification. It makes me giggle. I am who I am. I was straight for 37 years...or was I. I fantasized about women only...but was w/ men. I wasn't living a lie or wasn't unhappy...I just was. Now, I have decided to be w/ a woman...love her and "get down" w/ her. Does that make me any less gay? I don't think so, but others might. There was a show on We called "Late in Life Lesbians". It talked about other women like me who made decisions later to be w/ women. My partner has never been w/ a man...is she gay"er" than me? Perhaps. But I'd say we were pretty equal last Tuesday :).

I think there is enough division and segregation in the world...within my own community...not accepted by me. If I were suddenly single, I would never date men again. So, there you go. I have no idea where that puts me on a scale though.

Funny you mentioned San Jose. I am gonna be there in March over Susanne's bday and am thinking of surprising her. I need to go for work, but we can play a bit in the evening! It is about 7 hours from me driving.

I am not sure about Vegas. But it is only 3.5 hours in the car so it is not a big deal for us. We just bought a very expensive leather sectional couch for each other for xmas. So we need to re-evaluate things. Plus we are going to Germany and Italy this summer!!! That is kinda the focus now.

Yes the food was good...well, it looked good. I really had a hard time for the past 2 weeks or so. Can't wait for just a bit to be taken out!

Have a great day!

The rating system is like a Kinsey thing. How gay are you? For pity's sake, I don't get it. Being gay is more than how you have sex. The political and social ramifications go a long way too. People think I'm straight if they look at me. So I present as het but talk, socialize and screw as homo????

But using that scale only as a measures what makes you hot and bothered and that's how I read that scale, I'm a freaking 6. And only other gay girls get me there. Looking at straight girls or getting busy with them, they might as well be men. Because my interest is zero.

Okay, back to work.

Oh my, we all sound so serious .Actually, I only thought of the scale as a fun thing! never gave the "ramifications" a moments thought. I got too many other serious things in my life to be worried about that. but, so long as we are on the subject, I was officially a "late life lesbian" ( I guess) but was "getting busy" with women (gay or bi) when you were in diapers. Currently, now that I am married to a women in a state where it is legal, we are very much in love and here for the long term. My interest is zero in other women, but my appreciation for all women is still very much there!:whoo:

It's all a very odd thing, our attractions to people. My niece was very gay from day one. had serious relationships with women, even bought a house with one. then one day ( in her mid 30's) she decided to move in with her best male friend and has apparently been happy everafter. Go figure!!

arn't stright women who get "busy" with other women Bi? I think that should disquallify them from being stright! lol....just having fun now so please don't anyone get your panties in a twist.

Hi my people.

I'm so stoked. I just learned that I will be off from school for SIX weeks!

I start my MBA program in January, but the first session is only 3 weeks long so it starts at the end of the month, not at the beginning like I assumed.

I've not been out of school more than 2 weeks at one time since I started back in January 2005!!!!!!!!!! This is going to be so sweet!

Oh, and yesterday's fill went well. I've got some serious restriction, but I can eat if I'm careful. So let's hope this knocks off some weight!

Happy Weekend,

J

Hey Juli~ Awesome news! What are you gonna do w/ all that time off? I suggest read a book or two. That is what I hate, being in school, is that I never can read books for pleasure. I might start one, but then I need to hit the "real" books. Enjoy your time off!

And...hello, 98 pounds gone. That is fanfuckingtastic! I am so proud of you.

Have a great day everyone and enjoy your weekend!

:clap2:Way to go Juli, It took me a 1 1/2 years to see mine, I have only 5 more lbs to be at goal. No big hurry here. Sandy my partner of 15 years keeps telling me no more, she says I am like a whole new women. lol.

I go the 1st of the year to get braces, so I will have a new smile in a couple of years to go with the new body. lol. I am going to commit to an exercise program of some kind to see if I can get the extra skin to draw up before I go and do a Tummy Tuck. There is still a few lbs of fat left in the middle section, if you know what I mean. Well ok, enough of that.

Be safe everyone.

I'm getting one on Thursday. I'm hoping it moves the scale for me too. I've been stuck for weeks.

So, who's done with their holiday shopping?? :heh:

I am almost done with my shopping. I have two things left to get and i will be done. I hate the stores this time of year, except for the additional cute guys out and about...lol. Which might be why I took a Santa pic last week.

I am curious, did any of you go through a period in which you just didn't want to weigh yourself? I haven't weighed in almost three weeks because I just don't want to know. My doctor seems to be happy with my progress, so that is a good thing.

Hey, Glad I found htis tread. I am a gay bear just starting this journey. My bf had bypass and went from 365 to 180 in 18 months. He motivatred me. I spoke to my dr. and he thinks this is best option for me. We'll see how it goes. I worry about approval from insurance. Talk to you all later.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
