Pre-op diet...... Destroyed!

Recommended Posts

I feel like I have no self control! I can't do this pre-op by the paper to save my life! The real sad part is, it doesn't require ALL liquid :(. I'm able to eat 2 "smart" meals (smart ones, healthy choice ect) a day, 1 Greek yogurt, unlimited unsweetened liquids including popsicles, a piece of fruit and 2 Protein shakes! Instead I've eaten what I've cooked for the last 2 days baked turkey wings w/gravy and pinto Beans (it is protein) I also had 2 jerk chicken tacos!! My surgery is Friday! I only have today to get it right because Thursday is the ALL Clear Liquids day! :(

I have been cheating, but not too bad I guess! I have my three Protein shakes a day with a really decent meal, and I exercise 3 to 4 times a week / one hour or 3 miles, and I will begin my pure Fluid diet on Sunday. I have heard so many different stories of what to and not to do, some are VERY strict and others well, sound like mine. I will say it’s based on the individual, of course, I had my last pre-op this past Wednesday, and the one thing that surprised me was the inattentive discussion with my diet, it was only if I’m doing a liquid diet. I guess I look it at this way, regardless of your diet, after your surgery….YOU WILL DIET and NOT EAT whether you are hungry or not! LOL

I will focus on making sure I heal, follow the Post-Op diet to a “T” as to not hurt myself, but I think in the pre-op stage, just doing your best should be good enough. Think about, you may have never concentrated on your diets before until now…you are now that much better for it!

wow congratulations!

interestingly enough, my surgeon has no preop diet. he says i can eat as i want to eat (of course my NUT highly recommends beginning to eat PRE OP as you will be POST OP) but the two days before surgery see through liquids ONLY--NO solids...and nothing to eat past 12am the night before surgery. in the AM i am to take my prilosec with just enough Water to swallow it down, and i'm off to the races!

i am weaning myself off of sugary foods and high carb foods on my own starting monday as it will be exactly 2 weeks before the big day. nothing wrong with helping my dr. along with a smaller liver :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
