Stomach flu - in agony

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone sorry I don't post very often but I need some urgent advice. I'm 16 months out and over the weekend I came down with horrendous diarrhoea, hot and cold sweats and the chills. I thought it would go away and have hardly eaten anything in 3 days but it's got worse and worse and now I can barely move and have to get to the bathroom every half hour or so and it's just Water coming out now. But I have horrible stomach cramps and feel wretched also constantly thirsty. I'm seeing my GP this morning but I just know they won't understand the surgery I've had and why having this problem is scary when you only have 15% of your stomach. I would be grateful for any advice please, and now I'm not even making it to the bathroom in time ????

Oh dear ... Stomach flu's are the worst arent they?! And in my experience so much worse post-surgery! Feeling your pain - I've had my having a 2yr old bringing them back home from daycare! There isnt much you can do except just wait for it to pass and try get as much Fluid in as you can - I lived on popsicles for a week during my last tummy bug! There's a plus side & light at end of tunnel though ... embrace the weight loss at the end of it- and the smaller tummy shrinking pretty much right back post-surgery, hope you are feeling better asap xx

Get ahold of your surgeon or pcp soon. You don't want to become dehydrated and end up in the hospital. Good luck and keep us updated.

Thank you for the advice I'm just back from my doctors and they've given me some meds for the stomach cramps and to take paracetamol. She told me to bear with it and it should go within a few days I really hope so as it's just awful.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
