Getting my ducks in a row

Recommended Posts

I’ve kinda been lurking off and on for a few weeks while I get all my ducks in row. Now that I finally have my surgery date I’d like to introduce myself. (Don’t ask why I waited, I don’t know.)

I’m Marie in Wilmington, Delaware. I’ll be banded by Dr Peters on June 27 th. And I can hardly wait!

Has anyone else been banded by Dr Peters? I’m amazed at all the pre-tests and procedures he has me doing. I’ve done 7 appointments so far and have another 4 before the pre-op appointment with Dr Peters 2 weeks before surgery. Oh, and that’s not counting the blood work and chest x-ray. Well, at least I’ll know the state of my body before banding and will have more than just weight loss as a way to measure my success. Right?

And I THINK my insurance is paying at least 70% of this. That I can handle.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi Crabby, welcome to LBT!!

Yep. the pre-op testing can be a drag, but it's all in order to make you the best you can be before undergoing this life-changing process. You're getting a tune-up! :(

Welcome Marie. Congratulations on your date.

If there isn't already a June bandsters thread going, you may want to start one.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
