achy bones the more weight you lose?

Recommended Posts

I've started seeing a chiropractor because my body ached so much from carrying so much weight for so long. My posture was awful. Needless to say I was still carrying myself like I was holding those extra pounds so my regular adjustments have been helping tremendously. Something to look into!!

Again yes WE did a number on our bodies from being unhealthy & big (over weight or obese) I had so many problems & still do because of it , I just had 2 epidural cortisone shots in my back & probably will have to have more later on , I also just found out I have frozen shoulder , so yes we did a number on our bodies with out even knowing it , now that we have lost weight it is more noticeable.

My right knee hurts - but increased exercising is going to do that. And my bunion on my right foot seems to hurt more as I am much more active. I'll get an occasional zing shoot through it - again, increased activity.

My collarbones don't hurt, but I find myself touching them a lot. Maybe you are just hyper aware of them as they become more visible?

Lastly, if you ever had an injury, you might be bothered by weather. My knee doesn't like when it gets too humid and stormy. There might be a touch of arthritis in it.

BettyS, could it be because you're using your chest/shoulder area more now, and maybe thats why the collarbone ache ?? Several months agoi developed pain in my right hip, then it slowly spread to my right hip, then left heel problems. Diagnosis was bursitis started in my right hip due to mild walking / running and working on cement floors. Because I was using my left hip to compensate, I developed bursitis there abd plantar

Sorry operator error ------ plantar facitis in the left heel. So, maybe you're using your collarbone area differently, and thats why it hurts ??

so i know this may sound weird, but the more weight i lose, the more my bones ACHE! i'm down 57 lbs and my collarbones KILL ME, some days more than other. i was wondering if anyone else dealt with an issue like this? i may mention it at my next doctors appt in october.

It's possible the pain in your clavicles could be gout due to the high Protein diet they recommend for us. I hope your doctor is able to determine the cause of your pain and help you get some relief!

Well, I suffer from a lot of back pain - have for many years.

What I notice is that when I first lost weight, I noticed my "bones" - collar bones, seat bones, ribs sticking out etc. It didn't hurt, but seemed sensitive. Now that I have been at goal for awhile and actually weigh a bit less... the "bony-ness" isn't so noticable. I don't know why, but my theory is that when you lose alot of weight, it takes some time for things to sorta... resettle.

My arthritis pain, aches, and other pains have all gotten unbearably worse since my surgery 5 months ago (60 pounds lost/ 40 more to go)...my rheumatologist told me to slow down on exercising...but my family doctor told me to exercise a lot more...????

docbree good suggestion about the gout! I didn't even think of that, but I won't forget it next time :)

WOW. It hadn't occurred to me that adjusting to the weight loss would cause me pain, but my pain from hip displasia, (initially better) has been worse lately. I'd attributed it to my moving more, but it makes sense that I walk differently now. Hoping it works its self out soon!

I also have alot of residual issues from all the damage I did to myself. Plus the doctor told me that I was moving differently than before because the body is now so different and it will take time to get used to the 'new' way of walking and moving.

I figured out that my body aches the more artificial sweeteners I drink. Have stopped drinking them and aches are going away.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
