One more can of tuna or chicken and I'm gonna puke! Need lunch ideas.

Recommended Posts

I have eaten tuna salad or chicken salad every day for the last 4 months and if I have to eat it one more day I am going to puke. I am almost 6 months out and find myself snacking on crackers because I can't stand the Protein anymore. This has slowed my weight loss down (only lost 10 pounds in the last 3 1/2 months). I don't want to fall into the trap I did before and start going out for lunch everyday. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Try vegan/vegetarian food. I might be weird but I love the Loma Linda/Worthington canned Proteins. My favorites are Little Links, Tender Bits, Redi-Burger and Linkettes.

And there are a lot of other brands. I like Boca Burgers and Boca "chicken" patties too. Ask around to see what other people really like.

I am almost 5 months out. I love Lasagna but I fix it half with noodles for my husband and half without noodles. It is AWESOME and good source of Protein. Lately I have had Hormel chicken with white bean chili, I can get 3 lunches out of one can.

@@TheWigster - At six months out, you should be eating more that just tuna & chicken salad. I'd get tired of crawfish (my favorite food) if I ate it EVERYDAY!!! You should be eating, pretty much, anything you want, within reason. Fried, greasy foods should not be on your radar, of course, but healthy, lean meat, maybe just a few bites, would be an excellent choice. Crackers are NOT a good choice. They will swell in your stomach and you won't able to eat nutritional foods. You just need to make more healthy choices.

Good luck to you!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
