July 1st Sleevers - where are you at 2 months?

Recommended Posts

As a July 1st sleever, was just wondering how everyone was doing. Is your weight loss where you expected it would be? Are you feeling better/healthier? Any surprises? Any depression going on?

Nice to talk to a fellow July 1st sleever. I have lost 26 pounds since the day of surgery and 44 since June 1st when I started the presurgery diet. I am still thrilled with the surgery but it is hard to follow the food rules when family gatherings are going on. I haven't hit any stalls yet but am waiting for one to hit. How are you?

Hi jgj, I am down 46.5 pounds since surgery and 61 since my first appointment with the surgeon. I have yet to be able to get in enough Protein, fluids or calories. I "blue" so much of the time I'm actually on antidepressants and had the dosage raised in the last month. Don't understand why. Hit a stall that lasted 3 weeks at 3 weeks, so that was expected.

There is very little I actually like to eat. It seems like more trouble than it's worth. Thanks for answering!

Susan

I'm a July 18 sleever and as of last Friday down 45 lbs. loosing a pound a day. Would like it to be more but I'm good with that. To big still to do to much exercise, don't need a fracture. Lol. I'm 45. Best thing I've ever done for my self. Good luck to you. I'm extremely depressed also since the surgery. Gonna have my shrink up my med. and I have a constant headache on the right side of my head. See the dr on Wednesday for that. These drs will mickle and dime you to death. Good luck to you.

I was sleeved June 30. I have lost 27 pounds since surgery. Physically I feel good but it has definitely gotten harder for me because I seem to have a sleeve of steel and everything goes down super easily. Still trying to find my way- I do not want to return to eating junk...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
