Most of us have more willpower then we realize but you have to first start by changing your mindset - YOU DO have willpower and you need to tap into what will motivate you. You are so newly banded and could already be at risk of losing your band. Plus your wife is going to be banded so you both must be committed to this new life/lifestyle. And, I'm guessing you laid out some clams for this surgery which was enough to motivate me!

You need to really think this thru and make some commitments to yourself - I don't keep a lot of foods in the house which cuts down on snacking and grazing. I plan my meals so I don't get too hungry and eat out.

I try to eat foods I like but in smaller quantitities so I don't crave a lot of stuff.

But this is all me - you need to do that soul searching and like the Nike commercial - just do it - we all fall down and have weak moments but they should be moments not every day every second.

come on you CAN do this - start slow - go one meal at a time - Put money in a jar when you screw up (or give it to your wife to shop)...

396, I say, eat! Be happy! The day will come when your little band buddy will put a screeching halt to your over eating. Well, you'll still over eat, but it will magically re-appear shortly after consumption. That's why a lot of these people have a band. All you have to do is retrain yourself not to over stuff your banded stomach.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
