I am 8 days post op of my rny. I lost 20 pounds by day 7 but today I gained a pound. Does anyone else have there issues. Why is this happening. It made me so upset when I stepped on scale

Relax. You are weighing too much. Concentrate on the important things - like Protein and fluids - and stay away from the scale. :-)

Yep. Happens to me all the time but no biggie. It just goes back on down!

It happened to me in the beginning and I also got extremely upset. Don't worry, it will go back down. The stalls were frustrating too but now I just try to roll with it.

Thank you everyone. I'm trying to concentrate on anything but the scale.

One pound could be so many things -- if you drank more Water than usual, if you need to poop, if you're close to your period... Just do what you're supposed to do and don't fret over the day to day weighs... as long as the overall trend is downward, you'll do great.

I gained 2 lbs since yesterday. I go up and down, up and down. I am really in a stall right now but that is ok, I am trying to get better from a rough recovery. I would rather feel better than worry about the weight right now.

Yup, it happens. Could be that you're getting more fluids in. Don't stress about it. You're going to lose weight like crazy, then stall, and then maybe gain a pound. It's all part of the journey. At the point now, if I loose a few lbs over night, I know at least one or two will be back the next day if I hydrate myself well.

I lost 8lbs almost over night from being sick and not being able to eat or drink but I got a lot more in yesterday and I know when I go weigh today half of that will probably have come back. But I'm not going to stress about it. I know that's easier said than done, it took me a long time to get to that point but you can't let that number on the scale drive you crazy. As long as you're doing what you're suppose to, it's going to come off.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
