Help Please! Sleeve in Mexico?

Recommended Posts

After I tried to have surgery previously and my liver/fat was still too big, I went to another surgeon who told me I need to do bypass because I like to eat a poptart once in a blue moon. I told him I wasn't comfortable having a blind stomach and that I didn't understand why they couldn't do bypass and remove the useless stomach part and that to me, rearranging my organs like that really weirds me out. He told me "maybe you shouldn't have any wls then." I never went back to him. I felt like he wasn't listening to my concerns.

The first place I went to, I actually gained weight before surgery since it was so much Protein and carbs from the lean cuisines/weight watchers frozen meals. I'm sure it works for most people, but the new doc I'm going to says that my body is carb sensitive so to speak. So it took me about 2 years to come back to the point of having surgery again.

I am going to be doing the preop diet for 3 weeks instead of just one. I feel more comfortable with this doc. I told him my story and how I was even scared to try again. He asked me if I had ever seen Shawshank Redemption, which I replied no, and he told me I should watch it and the ending moral is about not giving up hope.

Melanie, you are better off following phase 1 Atkins then switching to low carb Protein shakes, forget lean cuisine. This way you can also start cooking some recipes that you can use post op :)

Shawshank redemption is a great movie! A classic actually.

I agree! I am loving salad, steamed zucchini, and chicken breast with Montreal seasoning on it! Hubby and I have been using the George foreman almost every night.

I did my sleeve in Tijuana Mexico. People in Mexico have a bad rap because of others not doing their research before choosing people... I had my sleeve done on July 25th. Everything went perfect, I stayed in the hospital for three days, there MAIN hospital. Not some outpatient clinic. Everything went perfect. I went through Belightweight and felt with Joanne.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
