Have lost some weight in the past years and past 2 months, that's not the problem. I can deal with exercise and only loosing 2 pound in a week. That I have learned to live with. I have given up rice and bread and still not bad.

The worse part is knowing I have lost weight and still can not shop at normal stores. Ok yes your right I am fat 290 i am fat but I get slapped in the mouth every visit to the mall to find pants on rack 42 inches and they don't fit. That is the largest on rack, yes some store stock some bigger but they look like clown pants. I want to be able to go into Macy's and grab a pair of pants and a 2x shirt, and walk out. I will get there some day but I don't get the same satisfaction shopping as I do when I check the scale.

Does anyone else hate shopping like me ?.

I have always hated clothes shopping. I have also always been fat. I remember having to shop in the men's department as a kid and being afraid someone I knew would see me.

This kind of thinking used to ruin my weight loss efforts. I would see the scales moving significantly and then an interaction with a girl, clothes shopping or just catching a look at myself in the mirror would get me so down I would binge and give up.

I just had one of those experiences the other day. The neat thing was realizing that to some degree I no longer have the choice of going out and eating a ton of food so I might just as well not go out and eat anything bad either.

I absolutely hate shopping. I've always had to go immediately to the back of the rack to find something that'll fit me. I've given up on looking fashionable, there is no fashion for heavier people. But also looking at some of the stores I take my daughter to, there's no fashion there either. Might start making my own clothes instead.

Have you considered getting the band removed and getting sleeved? I have met quite a few people who have and they are very happy.

There are a lot of fashionable brands like Torrid (completely plus size), Wet Seal, Dots, Debs, Rainbow, etc that have great clothes for plus size women up to size 4X or size 28. You just have to know where to look! Don't give up!

I'm not buying any more clothes right now. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday so I'm ready to no longer have a 2 in front of my pant size. Or a number in front of my x's

Shopping has always been horrible for plus size ppl. The dressing room brings me to tears (and then to Sbarros) every time - since I was 14, now I'm 30 and I refuse to enter those mirrored torture chambers. Admittedly I saved a fortune on clothes and cultivated different less traditionally girly interests (i.e. comic books!), but I still feel like I'm missing out.

The rise of amazing online shopping has helped immensely. Unfortunately now I'm spending a FORTUNE on asos.com because their plus size clothes are so much cooler and well made than the usual crap you find. And it's tailored to be actually flattering on chunky people - the cut is generous - the whole "swing dress" line is phenomenal and chic when paired with good jewelry and a pair of leggings.

Off Topic Girl Rant: I'm a young woman, and I refuse to wear any of those square necks short-waist-ed awful mom-tees covered in disney characters that every plus-size brand is forcing down our throats. I might be a drama queen, but if another designer tries to make me wear flax or capri pants, I'll kill myself. I don't know if plus sized men have the same issues. Do they?

My husband is also the tee shirt designer genius behind this Fat Celebration tee that comes in sizes up to mens 5x (sadly it's sold out of most sizes until the next batch is finished). He made this tee while I was a size 18, now I'm a size 24.

But this too shall pass. My surgery is scheduled for October 6, and like Shirley said, I cannot wait to have that 2 out of the front of my pant size! I'm dreaming of little bodycon bandeau dresses and really reaally slutty high heels that will make my husband yell.

The lapband will help you get where you need to go. And if not, you can always consider a revision. My therapist says its important to hold onto hope and positivity, and to focus on the things, even shallow things, that we want out of this process. So what do you want to wear when you're at goal?

That really is not the problem I love the band, I was banded 4 years ago but no one told me how it worked, so I lost and gained back after 3 years. I now have a doctor who taught me and a support group that meets. I have a great group of people on this site I follow, I have learned so much.

I hear ya. I dont own a pair of jeans that fit (preop). Well, I met a nice guy that wants to take me on a bike ride. You cant wear capri yoga pants on a bike. I went to Kohls and found some. Lee. Sz 20. Super stretchy. Nice for a ride.

I so get this. You know what also bothers me is going to Nordstroms and having the sales women try to become my "personal shopper" in one breathe and then in the next saying they can help me "look smaller." It's so insulting. I don't give a rats a$& that they think I should look smaller... They don't even realize they have insulted me until I call them on it. Yes...I am having a VGS is a few weeks to lose 80 pounds...and hope to be a size 12 again. But don't insult me or my intelligence. I'm getting worked up just thinking about it!

I have always hated shopping for clothes. I always tend to grab the same kind of outfit and colors, because they make me happy, but my hubby doesn't like it. Too f bad. LOL

To the original poster: you sound like you're doing fine, so keep on track and soon you will be shopping wherever you want. I'm just getting there. I'm stuck in between at the moment. But slow and steady wins the race!!

OK ... I gotta ask ...

Why does that insult you?

OK ... I gotta ask ... Why does that insult you?

Because they presume I don't like my body and that's not the case - basically telling me my body is not okay with them by saying they can make me look smaller. I love my body and what it's done for me (twin girls etc etc). And I'm looking forward to being smaller so it's easier to keep up with kids, but that is not the same as being told I am not okay the way I am. Thanks for asking :-)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
