I don't know what to say about the depression that could help, except that I am sorry you're struggling. As far as the weight loss, I had my surgery in June also, and you have lost a lot more than I have, so it's not that slow.

wolfmom71,

Hello from a fellow Michigander who grew up in Michigan and is now a transplant to Texas.

PLEASE do not wait to get help from your primary care doctor or counselor for depression.

I went through a bout of severe depression when I was several months out from surgery. I had to have prescription help and counseling to get me through it along with exercise.

Slow weight loss is most importantly a loss. This isn't a sprint it's a marathon.

Good luck to you,

Blessings,

Kathleen

Well, that's not good! I'm sorry.

I know they're out of style, but we all could use a few fairy godmothers to POOF bad dreams and evil spells away. I'm also in counseling regarding my own health maintenance issues, and he's not buying the fairy godmother concept.

I promise I'm not teasing you -- I'm just trying to lighten your load. (( @@wolfmom71 ))

I'm very glad you're in counseling, and I hope this does resolve for you.

Remember that a dream is just a dream that sometimes reflects our inner fears. They don't come true. Also depression can cause dreams that are moribund. I am sorry you cannot use the SSRIs, but exercise is a potent antidepressant. It gets the good hormones going.

I experience depression and it is no fun and everything feels like a big deal to do. Hang in and it will remit.

I just wanted to share that I see a psychiatrist and counselor for major depressive disorder. I am on three daily medications to just feel okay each day.

My son was murdered 3 years ago in a senseless robbery and I spiraled out of control. But I have been stable for about the past year. As a result my dreams manifest my anxiety and really distress me. I have the same dreams over and over with a few variations but the anxiety is horrid.

I do talk about it in counseling. And it's sad I have to have sessions about my life awake and my life asleep.

I've had some bad days since my sleeve where I just felt I couldn't drink another shake, eat another food or survive another bout of throwing up.

I get the blues and I feel overwhelmed so if you need some support, I can at least empathize on every level.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
