Tomorrow is my 24hr liquid day and Wednesday is the big day!!! I'm so numb to emotion right now. I truly don't know how I'm feeling... I just can't believe the time has come!

I'm in Hampton Virginia. My surgeon doesn't require a pre-op diet. I only have to be on Clear Liquids for 24 hours prior to surgery. I think it depends on what your BMI is and how your liver function test comes back. I guess I am lucky. Good luck to you also.

My surgery date is Oct 28th but today was crazy day in this crazy journey. Last week my surgeons office tells me that they have not received a support letter from my primary care doctor, so i call to get this taken care off, they tell me they will get back to me. So, today they call me to tell me that my doctor supports the surgery but doesn't thinks it is necessary to write the letter. I call the doctors office back to tell them it is necessary and they tell me that the doctor is out of the country until October 13( too late to get insurance approval by the 28th). They said that they could try to get the doctor to send a letter before they have no contact with her until the 13th. Thank god she sent the letter so they can send to the insurance for approval. I have my pre surgery check up with my primary care, my pre op appointments set, and last nutritionist appointment set to start my liver reduction diet. Then on the 28th I get my birthday present, my surgery. Nervous but excited.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
