Tell me your FAVORITE post op 'meal' **regular foods**

Recommended Posts

i am on to regular foods of all types and tolerating everything i eat. in fact, i sometimes think i am doing TOO well because i can eat decent amounts too and i think that i could very easily overeat.

however, i want to be able to cook things that will specifically still help me to burn off weight and keep moving downward on the scale. the first 38 pounds went easily, but now at 8 wks out the scale is slowing down a lot. joining a gym this weekend too..

so...on "regular" foods, what are some of your favorite things to eat??? i want to have lots of options so i can cook on the weekends and then pack little lunches in a big lunchbag to take to work for the entire week.

I like some recipes off According to egg face the green things are amazing and totally easy to eat hot or cold. I also have been making lentil and couscous salad - 1/2 cup is a perfect meal for me. Chilli is always good - taco meat - grilled salmon, keep things simple and enjoy good tasty healthy food

This was the post I was looking for. I have the same questions. I feel like I'm relearning to cook and don't really have a clue. I love to cook Soups all the time so my favorite thing to make now is a crab bisque, I also like snack foods so I chop a lot of veggies for my day time Snacks, cheese and turkey. I would love to learn to cook lean fish and kim chi and make a zucchini Pasta from scratch. I would love t hear what others are making? Thanks for posting. I do not want to fall into old habits.

I am not a fan of cooking, so here's one of my favs.....buy a rack of BBQ ribs from the local deli (they are REALLY good) and cut them into pieces...two ribs each. Then I individually wrap and freeze them. Whenever I feel like it, I take out a pack, add a few spears of asparagus or brussel sprouts or green Beans or whatever veggie I'm in the mood for and throw it in the microwave for about 1 minute. MmmmMmmmmGood

P.S. I do the same with meatballs and pork loin kabobs from the deli.

I have found that I like simplicity after throwing out so many expensive foods, especially vegetables. If you keep the good foods in the fridge, you always have a go to. Rotisserie chickens are great for on the go lettuce wraps, chicken salad, added some to a little FF Soup, a Fajita made with the chicken, just add some taco seasoning. This week I also took a very small lean sirloin steak filet, smaller in size than a saucer, sliced it and stir fried it with bell pepper, onion and mushrooms, with low sodium soy sauce. My husband will have a small serving of smoked salmon as his dinner. Since we are in Florida we love our salt Water fresh fish. I no longer fry anything. I saute in a little olive oil and add Old Bay Seasoning and lemon juice for pizzazz! Cooking is a breeze with hardly any planning if you have the right things on hand. I also buy turkey sausage which can be cooked with cabbage, or the peppers and onions mixture. seasoned turkey meatballs are easy and good. Best wishes and cooking!

My favorite meal is sharing one small filet mignon and salad with my husband. (we were both sleeved)

I was the same way. I am 3 weeks 4 days since sleeve. I would try to love on to purée only to realize I had to go back to liquid. It was painful and gassy to eat anything! I've been very frustrated and wondering when will I ever again. But it's gotten better this 3rd week. I have been eating more. Not enough but more

I love grilled anything, veggies, salmon, steak, chicken. I like to keep it simple and fresh rather than a package as the sodium or extra sugars typically don't sit well with my new tummy. I usually can eat around 1.5 to 2 oz of most meets and a 1\4 cup of a veggies. However, having said that we do occasionally pick up a rotisserie chicken from the deli and put that on a salad, or fajita etc like Lindafromflorida does as well.

As for burping - still very much a constant for me 3.5 months out

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
