Taking in enough Water and Protein is really hard, but finally bring able to pass gas- never thought I would be glad to admit that on ANY forum! What misery until that happened! I woke my husband up at 2 am to share the news... I passed gas!!! Needless to say I was more excited than him at that hour... But he was still happy for me! Lol tomorrow I am venturing outside of my house, so hoping that goes well. I have got to figure out a way to get more protein in, the Celebrate shakes are gross and soo filmy I think they add to the gas issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated - just remember still on liquid diet until physician release.

Hi,

I use Jay Robb whey Protein powder and have not had a problem with gas from it. Also you can get individual packets to try if you write them for samples I believe at a minimal charge.

It comes in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.

You buy it thru the company directly, at Whole Foods, on Amazon or eBay.

These next suggestions I would check with your nutritionist to see if you can have them yet.

I add Torani sugar free syrups to give the shakes different flavors.

I have also added PB2 for extra Protein to them. PB2 is Peanut Butter powder and it comes in peanut flavor or Peanut Butter chocolate. You find this in your grocery store, Walmart or Target in the peanut butter isle usually.

Another suggestion to get in your protein is powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup. I found this to be a great help because it has 20g of protein per serving.

From Unjury you can get a sample pack of their products of Soup and shakes if you want to try the products before committing to buying a full container of them.

Good luck and continue to feel better each day.

You may need to experiment until you can find something you can tolerate. After surgery, I became lactose intolerant (diarrhea). This limited me from using milk, dairy and some Protein shakes that contained lactose. This condition disappeared after a few months.

Hi, I'm five days post-op. The gas thing is funny but also very relieving. About the protein intake, my doctor actually suggested I get Proteinex 2Go and it's actually pretty good. It's strawberry flavor and it's clear not milky (taste like strong jello). Try it out and see if you can tolerate it. I've been drinking it for 3 days with no problem. I hope your recuperation continues to go smoothly.

I added unflavored whey Protein to my morning tea and almost anything else I was able to consume that wasn't a shake. You can try muscle mile shakes, not at all filmy. It's all experimental from here on out. Once you pass the mushy stage things will get better. My surgeon was more worried about fluids in general then Protein for the first month. Stay hydrated and don't sweat the protein at this point.

The diet plan can only be successful by trial and error method. You will be able to get to the right kind of food that will suit you.It is always a relief when the gas is released and tension in the abdomen is relieved.therefore it is always better to eat food which does not create gastric problem and you can lead a comfortable life.

Check out Isopure Zero Carb Protein drink. It's not a milky power, it's clear and thin and comes in a ton of flavors. You can drink it straight, with Water, tea, crystal light or whatever you choose. It's pure whey Protein isolate so it's absorbed much better than whey concentrate. You can sip on this between meals. Check out their website and GNC and Amazon sells it.

Good luck!

Carol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
