The last 3 weeks and 8lbs have been the hardest. I never thought I'd see this magical place called onederland again. Prior to my surgery, I gave myself a goal to be in onederland by 6 months post-op but I'm ECSTATIC to say just 10 days short of my 5mth post op and just in time for my bday, I have arrived!

Sorry if I sound too crazy or overly excited but it's been a tough journey of 15+ years. In addition, I feel as though you all are the only ones that can understand the struggle & excitement that even a 2lb weight loss is for me. Especially after just 3 days ago a friend of mine who I thought was supportive of this process said this surgery was "the easy way out." My blood boiled but it only gave me more motivation to be better and stronger. I did this for me not them!

Highest weight: 282lbs

Pre-op weight: 268.4 lbs

Current weight: 199.4 lbs

Welcome to onderland @@michelle_e2006! It's a wonderful place to be and I'm so proud of you making it there so quickly :D! Let the easy way out comment roll over your shoulders. Just remember that the sleeve might help us with QUANTITY, but we have to choose the QUAlITY of food we consume and the ACTIVE lifestyle we are suppose to adopt post WLS. When I get those comments thrown at me, I always say, "The sleeve didn't eliminate the bad foods. I did. The sleeve doesn't wake me up at 4:45 in the morning to run, do crossfit or bleachers. I do. The sleeve doesn't hit the weights. I do."

So keep your chin up and work that sleeve and your body, girl! Onederland only gets better from here ;)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
