Had my surgery two days ago. They hospital stay was wonderful. I am now home and in Pain with a cital P. my Dr. Sent me home with Tylenol w/codein and told me to be proactive and make sure that I am medicated before the pain happens. Well, that train has already passed and I am afraid of taking too much.

My second issue is that he gave me it in pill form. I am petrified to get stuck or cause damage to my oh so tender belly. Any alive or past experience you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sorry you're in pain. The codeine will constipate you so if you can drink prune juice do it. I hope you're feeling better soon. Walking helped me.

you can crush the pain medication. or just chew it. follow with Water. a lot of ppl switched from pill form to liquid ibuprophen. remember to use heating pad to your shoulder for gas pain, to walk to help the gas in your belly to move down and to drink warm tea. take it easy for awhile and to walk a little ways every hour or so. it really helps with the pain level. codeine is very constipating so I would ask my doctor for their recommendation on stool softners. good luck on your recovery. hope it is a swift and uncomplicated one.

I don't understand why they would give you pills I mean the Surgeon should know you just had surgery LoL and are only able to drink for the next few days , if it were me I would call & see if they can get you liquid form, I had to make sure & tell my pharmacy also that I just had surgery & needed liquid form meds and I would let them know when I could start back with pills.

Sorry you're in pain, Hun. Soon you'll find relieve.

But I MUST say this: while I was being wheeled away from the waiting area, on my way to the OR, my husband was handed my prescription with a LIQUID painkiller so that it could be filled while I was in surgery- a very efficient process! But then again, my doctor was Dr. Ren-Fielding... She's just TOO WONDERFUL.

Feel better soon.

Oh, Sweetie! Call the doc and ask them to rewrite the script for a liquid version of the meds. I have to tell you though .. it tastes like cherry cough Syrup. Something else we did, I had my husband get some liquid children's tylenol for me. They have 3 flavors to choose from, it's pretty sugary, but it works.

Also .. YES .. drink prune juice. It's AWFUL being constipated while you are still healing from surgery. Take it one hour at a a time.

I had my surgery 8 days ago and I'm drinking 6 pills a day, nothing was stuck . I was also in pain like you the first 3 days but the meds helped a lot and walking. Make sure you take gas-x strips and stool softener. It will help.

Good luck on your speedy recovery

I use my pill crusher on my pain meds. Most of the pain seems to be caused from gas. Moving around, short walks and oho oat bag really works

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
