Is anyone else struggling with wanting to munch on something crunchy? I'm almost 4 weeks post op and am dying to crunch on something. I just started my canned meats stage and that helps, but oy! I need to crunch on something!

LOL Wincehstergirl - we are about the exact same stage - I am 4 weeks Post-op tomorrow and I do miss the ability to crunch on something. My nutritionist did warn me about this and said that this stage of Puree is the worst and to just get through it - look for the light at the end of the tunnel. I have been crunching on ice and that has helped (weird but it works).

Thanks golden39 for the affirmation I'm not alone, lol! I've tried the ice and sugar free Popsicles to munch on but it's just not the same. I think maybe I'm going through carb-withdrawls or something too. Oh well, I can get through it, it's just nice to know I'm not alone ????

Definitely not alone :) I am like you, nothing quite makes up for the real thing. I am waiting for the next stage and hoping I can have something like a big ole crunchy dill pickle :)

I have read about people making ice cubes out of pickle juice... You get the flavor and the crunch.

I'm still very early in the pre-op process though, so I don't know if that would be surgeon approved.

Quest - that might actually be a cool idea...I cannot see why there would be a problem with that since it would be sugar free

Valiant .. I definitely had some cravings in the Fluid stages. I tried to pick as many 'solid' liquids as possible.. Ie Jello, Popsicles to help fill me up.. Now that I am on puréed I work so hard to get my Protein in that I am not getting hungry often .. Just keep looking forward as the purée stage really helps with hunger

You may want to chew something crunchy and the spit it out. It seemed to help me with the craving

Idk if its just me, but I basically have what I want. Yes I avoid unhealthy foods. Im 2 months out and down 80lbs. Dr. Told me to just eat whatever I want. Just have 3 meals a day and avoid liquid calories. I see why I should avoid liquids calories. I can almost drink like I used to... very minimal restriction. food on the other hand is no longer my desire. Some foods go down ok, and others hit heavy. Foods are still very restricted. Bout half a cup...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
