Hi Alyce and congrats on your upcoming surgery! I was sleeved 6/24/14 and have never felt better. I was able to work from home after 1 week with the agreement that I needed to walk and if needed, rest. I must admit that some things I did that first week were a little foggy and I wasn't quite up to speed. It also was a holiday week so I only worked 3 days. I went back to the office after 2 weeks and was much better. If possible, I would suggest 2 weeks but if not be sure to walk and drink your fluids as much as possible. Best to you.

I took 2 weeks. I felt ok but I should have taken 3. I had a really easy, no-complications recovery. still, I was a little to tired for my commute and long days.

I went back to work exactly one week after my surgery.I feel like I bounced back really well with no problems problems but I do have a desk job. There was one day in which my energy was low, but I think that was due to low Iron. I work 630am-3pm, so I was good while at work, but then just went home and laid low.

I took. Total of eight days off. I was fine, but I also have a desk job. Yes, I was tired, but I would have been completely bored at home.

I was supposed to take off 2 weeks, had a rough recovery and am now set to go back after 4 weeks which will be this coming Thursday. Everyone is different. I would take at least 2 weeks and if you don't need the second week then go back early. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Exactly the same for me. I felt ready to go back within a week, but had to wait for post-op appt. to be released back to work.

I am out of work for 6 weeks! I have a very physical job, lifting, pushing, pulling 25 + lbs on a daily basis, not counting the extra stress! So I knew I was planning this saved up my time and I also get short term disability so I took it! My manager and supervisor both are sleevers and they reccomended for me to take the time. I know I am lucky plus it's been nice being home with the kids during the summer...keeping me busy and active! It's truly different for everyone.

I'm hoping to do it in a week... Just because it is the beginning of the school year... I was hoping to do it during the summer but by the time I started in May ... Everything took time... If I listen to my body and I am not ready to go back then I won't . Just wanted some idea from others. Thanks to all of you who took the time to answer me . After reading all these posts I feel closer to everyone but still quite nervous . I start pre- op Protein tomorrow morning.

6 days post-op I was in the hospital and after being released my surgeon gave me 5 weeks of sick leave, Oh I was so glad.

I couldn't imagine going back to work a week or even two after the surgery I was too tired.

This week will be the last week of my rest at home, it's been so peaceful.

I can't wait to go back to work next monday though,

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
