Had my first consultation with surgeon yesterday.. Date set for October 8 ... Nervous today I'm wondering if I made the right decision. My husband is not being supportive ... Told me I'm losing my mind all I need to do is diet and exercise ... But the truth is I'm tired of failing. At 270 , 5"3 31 years old two small children ... I need to feel good about life and myself . Hopefully I'll start getting excited soon ... To many Debbie downers around me

Hi AniaNJ82,

Nice to meet you! I also have to small children and I'm 39 but I'm tired of this struggle since I'm 10 yrs old ! My husband for years has said this to me as we'll..he doesn't get why I can't just diet and work out ( he forgets I've been doin that for 25 years to lose but always gain it back.. IM TIRED IF FAILING TOO!!!) It's hard for people to understand that over eating and food addictions is a disease and I believe a disease should be treated with a medical cure, and that medical cure IS surgery! Surgery is no easy way out, it is a tool but we have to work at it because it can be sabotaged with milkshakes, Cookies and other bad diode known as " slider foods"very easily.. I don't do drugs , smoke or drink but i'm a food addict and so I believe we will always be struggling with addiction!

Your young and you are doing the right thing for your kids and your future!

Your husband needs to realize you wouldn't be doing this if you didn't have too! You need to go what's fight for You!

My husband now is still nervous but he gets it now finally where I a coming from cause this big mana ain't turning back lol so you have support from me girlfriend I ain't no Debbie Downer!

Hi! I'm new to the thread as well, still trying to figure out how to navigate this on my phone. Anyway, I'm 5'0 245lbs. I had my consult and first of three dietary consults. I have my psych eval on Wednesday and then all I need is my endoscopy. I'm supposed to be sleeved around thanksgiving or so. I'm super nervous and excited! Ive got 25lbs to lose before surgery.

Hello everybody, I've got my surgery booked for October the 9th. I'm self pay and from the UK. I'm traveling to Belgium for the surgery because it is more affordable and have a world class surgeon. My husband is luke warm about the whole thing but has accepted that I think it is right for me. He obviously doesn't want to talk about it though. So I am feeling quite alone about the whole thing. I will be on my own doing the surgery. My husband is looking after the children. I could do with some friends during this process.

I'm 5,6 and 216 pounds and 39.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
