anti inflammatories

Recommended Posts

Are we ever able to use anti inflammatories? What do we use if we have a strained/torn/pulled muscle/ligament?

Tylenol and ICE

Anti-inflammatory meds can cause ulcers in our pretty little tummies. I agree Tylenol and ice. I was very sore from using an elliptical, I just put up with the pain and tried to relax as much as I could. I would have given anything for an advil.

I think I made a mistake doing this procedure. :(

Tylenol doesn't work in me and neither does most of the script pain meds and the one that does work drs won't script. I'm screwed for the rest of my life now. I should have thought this over better before.

Ask your doctor for a toradol shot. It's an anti inflammatory but because it's not being digested by the stomach you can have it. Also, lidocaine Patches

Toradil doesn't work either. Don't know about lidocaine Patches.

I'm most worried about if I have an accident or another surgery.

Sounds like you need to have a discussion with your surgeon. There still may be options for you. I am curious, what was the name of the medication that does work for you, but your Dr. won't prescribe?

Demerol. I only wanted it after surgery while at the hospital. I know drs don't usually script it for home so I just have to deal with the pain.

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and IBU has been the only thing to help me with the joint pain. I stopped taking it about a month before the surgery to get used to not having it.

My surgeon actually told me not right away but maybe later down the line. He probably would rather never.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
