I think it's not common for one with your level of struggles to post on a board like this anyhow.

Good luck to you, listen and absorb what people say and try incorporating it. Also don't be afraid of the medical professionals. They can help.

We are all total strangers to you and we care enough to take the time to respond to you because all of us know what it's like to be in your shoes in one capacity or another.

You need help and you need support but you have to want it for yourself. If you can't get support from your family and friends, at least this collective group of strangers can be that for you.

Your struggle will only be as hard as you want it to be. Take the time now while you're young to regroup. Your body will be very unforgiving of your choices the older you get, and many medical problems are not reversible; don't do that to yourself. Make it right. Today.

I feel for you, I really do. You aren't the only one who struggles. I am in an intense nursing program where I don't have any free time. I have to schedule every last minute in order to be successful. With nobody to help me with my kids and a husband who works at night, I feel very alone at times. Eating healthy is often put on the back burner. But I have to put myself in check or I too will gain weight and throw away all of my hard work.

It sounds like professional help could really be beneficial to you. 600 calories sounds a little extreme to me as well but what if you made small changes at a time. Like giving up the sodas, eat 3 meals and two Snacks only, don't graze. Schedule your meals. It's hard, I know, but you can do this. Maybe drop down to 1600-2000 calories a day instead. Find an activity you like. Watch documentaries or find info online about fitness and health (it usually motivates me). Find what motivates you and learn to believe in yourself. Even if you don't believe you can do it now keep telling yourself you can until you believe it!!

Good luck to you, I'm rooting for you!

Well now Im not too ashamed to go back to the doctors in August. I'm going to really try today. My weight is at 293 right now, 20ish pounds down from where I was pre surgery, and 20ish pounds up from where I was post surgery. I gained 13 pounds since mid May.

You have a choice with your every behavior. It is in your control to succeed and make the choice that leads to success. With every bite you have a choice. With every food purchase you have a choice. Even after you buy it you have a choice whether to eat it. No one else makes that choice for you. The choice does not make you a bad, good, smart, or weak person. It is simply a choice. Guilt or regrets never got anyone anywhere. That is the past which can not change. Stay in the moment and do not worry about the future. The only thing to be concerned about is the choice you make right now and the future will take care of itself. Every success will build up and lead to more. A walk of a thousand miles or 20 lbs begins with a single step or more properly the choice to take that first step.

I would like to recommend an alternative. Try eating low carb and high fat. Cut out soda and beer. There are many low carb/high fat eating plans out there., just google it. Why is it different? You can pretty much eat what you want within the guidelines and as much as you want, the fats keep you satisfied, you don't feel like you are on a diet and you can even shop at costco. The best thing is that it works very well with the sleeve and makes losing and keeping the weight off very doable.

Easy rules:

NO bread, rice, Pasta, chips, Cereal, potatoes, sugary stuff, bananas, mangos, beer, soda

LOTS of meats, chicken, fish, cheese, nuts, guacamole, Peanut Butter, cream cheese, bacon, eggs

fruit and vegs that are OK: leafy greens, cauliflower, broccoli, celery, rutabaga, bell peppers, tomatoes, any berries, cantaloupe etc

Good luck, man.

I'm very greatful to have stumbled upon this thread. If anything else your experiance has made it very clear to me how much WLS is ONLY a tool and it can be SO easy to sabotage oneself. I know I am prepared for the journey ahead but this thread has showed me how much work it truely is going to be and how watchful I need to be.

OP I really hope you can figure it out. You may not "trust' your doctor (which I just don't understand-they're not there to sabotage your but help you, you're the one that is untrustworthy) but you need to discuss your behaviors with them and come up with a game plan. I really hope you can come around and make this work for yourself.

For everyone freaking out over the 600 calorie diet...I'm sure he was put on that because he wasn't honest with the doctor with how many calories he was actually eating.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
