My experience with marijuana and the munchies...

The real question is when can you buy it off Amazon now that it is legal here in WA. Everything can be found on Amazon so why not? All those prime memberships will go into overdrive.

i smoke just about every evening, just a little toke or two on my pipe, my equivalent of an after work martini. i don't get the munchies, and i love not having the calories from alcohol. i'm so curious about how i will feel after surgery when i smoke. and for the record, i'm an incredibly productive member of society. :)

I'm sure you are productive! I've always been pretty square, and just the other day I found out just how square. Turns out I am one of the only moms in my group that doesn't have a medical card (I'm in Ca) And believe me, these women are way responsible and productive. Good to know its possible to have the equivalent of one drink!

I posted somewhere (don't think it was on this thread): Why would you get VSG surgery and simultaneously use a product that is medically prescribed for people who need to increase their appetite.

Just sayin'.

This made my night! LOL! The "food" containing THC can hit you like a freight train because while it takes longer to process via the GI tract verses diffusion through the lung epithelium, once it is absorbed, it is more powerful...heh heh....  ;)

I've considered getting a medical card for back pain....does it always give you the munchies? What if you just do a little? I'm worried about back pain post vgs since I live on Aleve now (and I'm so hoping my pain goes down after weight loss!)

This sounds kind of judgy to me....

Everyone reacts differently, and different kinds of pot also have different effects. If I lived somewhere where I could go to a shop and talk to an expert who worked there, I'd be pretty confident that I could find something that I could have a hit of without getting the munchies.

For me, I also find that if I don't start eating while high to begin with, the munchies aren't a real problem, and even if they are, it's not like I'm totally out of control. There were plenty of times where, for whatever reason, I chose not to eat while stoned or not to eat much. I'm still only two months post-op, so I haven't tried it yet, but I see no reason why in the future I won't still be able to smoke from time to time.

Anyway, all I'm saying is, don't assume people who choose to use weed post-op are sabotaging themselves. There are plenty of reasons to use marijuana (or to choose not to), and on the long list of things we can do to set ourselves up for failure after surgery, I'd say this one is pretty low on it (for most people anyway).

Jessi,

My comment above was based on my own experience -- grass turns me into a food monster.

Hence, my comment. For me, grass + VSG = WTF?!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
