Throwing up

Recommended Posts

I had something stuck tonight when I ate supper...but I then started to throw up...drinking some warm tea right now...should I stay on liquids for a few days? or should I call my doctor right away. my stomach feels fine, just feel icky in my chest...is there still something stuck? had my fill last week...maybe I need to slow way down!

the icky in your chest could indicate that the food you got stuck got stuck in your esophagus and you are experiencing a little spasm. drink some Water, drink enough Water that you fill your pouch. this should dislodge or make the food go down. and than take it easy for awhile. give your band and stoma a chance to recover. I remember once that I had a pork chop for dinner. I kept sliming and burping after dinner. no pain. all the way until a took my Jacuzzi at around 1 am. the dang piece of pork chop decided while I was in the hot tub to come up. oh what a relief but I was in a compromising position as I wear no clothes in the hot tub. thank goodness no one was around to see me pb on the deck. lol.

Glad you're feeling a little better today. All part of the learning process. Honestly, it that one more bite that gets me. I can't always measure out a restaurant portion - working on it though! Oh, also eating distracted by tv, conversation etc. old habit appear, and I end up eating too fast. Working on that too! Haha! Be kind to yourself and just roll with it baby! Have a great day!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
