First Fill 8th May

Recommended Posts

Hi

Got my appointment for my first fill 8th May. Don't know if I'm nervous or excited!!! I am hoping for weight loss as I have been stuck at the same weight for about 3 weeks now although have lost 16lbs since being banded so really pleased with the loss. I've not felt really hungry at all - just the odd pang now and again and stuck to the shakes and smoothies and the mushies exactly as told. Just started to eat 'normal' foods this week - had a couple of Bagels and also a small bread bun yesterday - bagesl seem to be OK but really struggled with the bread - had that stuck feeling in my chest. Eventually it did pass but it really slowed me down which I guess is good and that is what it is supposed to do.

As I am really sticking to this and not eating anything more than a small side plate [sometimes can't even finish that] - so now I can't help wondering how I am going to have any further weight loss.

A three week stall, especially at your low BMI, is not unusual. Just be patient. I remember being stalled for two months (on a different diet a few years ago)...then suddenly in one week I lost 6#!! After you get your fill you probably won't be able to eat Bagels and breads anymore....I've heard a lot of people have problems with that.

I know three weeks isn't long - but I suppose I'm more scared of putting weight back on before I get my fill. Well only a week to go no so must try to be very very careful of what I eat between now and then.

I'm getting my first fill on the same day, May 8th. I'm not afraid, but hope I feel more restricted. I can eat almost anything, but in smaller quantities than before surgery. I, too, am teetering between numbers in the weightloss area. The weightloss varies between 14 and 15 pounds each day and I'm anxious to lose more. Good luck with your fill!

I was banded on April 3rd and get my first fill on the 7th. I'm curious as to what to expect. I have been continually losing weight, I'm down 15 lbs since my band date. I have been getting hunger pangs :tape: I'm eating alot of Protein, fish, yogurt, plus Fiber, don't know what more healthy Snacks to eat to keep my hunger under control, any ideas?

Thanks for the posts, they help me keep on track.

hey there...

I am having my 1st fill today (5/8/07) as well... I am glad to see that there is someone else out there with the same "stats"... I felt really stupid going in with a BMI of only 31 but have struggled all my life with my weight. I was banded 4/6/07 and have lost about 18 pounds so far... I am sooo ready for my fill.. BRING IT ON!!! Just an extra edge... making the struggle just a little less painful! the end result will be sooo worth it!!!!

Good luck to you both today!

Hi

Home and 'filled' - not as bad as I was expecting it to be. Dr Ashton is a star. Not painful at all and I watched everything on the xray screen. He explained everything step by step. On liquids now for 3 days, then 3 days mushies and then back to normal foods.

Hope to see some weightloss now.

hey there...

I am filled & back @ work... according to their scales I have lost 15 lbs in a month... filled 1.5cc with saline and I will go back in 4 weeks for the "sticky" solution as she called it... Saw everything on the xray machine as well.. very cool...

My port was a little bt harder to find and a little bit sore in that area but other than me getting lost downtown.. I was in & out of there... funny how different dr's can be though.. I am on liquids for today and mushies for 2 days...

skinny days are ahead!

Well I had my first fill yesterday 1cc, it was a breeze. I didn't feel a thing my appetite is already in control. On liquids for two days and mushies for two days. My weight loss is holding at 15.6 lbs. Would love to start tipping the scales a little lower.

Hi everyone. I can totally understand why most people go for their first fill 6 weeks after surgery. I was losing steadily for almost 4 weeks and then hit a wall. I'll go up a few pounds, then down a few pounds. It's been up and down like this for the 3-4 weeks and I'm tired of it! :)

At the same time I hit the wall was when I started doing 3 hours of cardio and 3 hours of weightlifting each week. I don't know if there is a parallel there, but other than that I eat between 1000 and 1200 calories a day. It just doesn't seem possible that I am eating much less, and exercising and the scale ain't budging!!

I am hungry a lot of the time, which is why I am dying to get a fill. I want to eat 600 to 800 calories and be satisfied.

:) Virginia

Well, I had my first fill on May 8th. Things didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped because the port flipped and my doctor and the techs had to search quite a while to find the spot for the needle entry. Ouch!! I told her about a bad fall I'd had last Thursday when I landed on my left hip. Luckily, the floor is carpeted. That is probably what caused the port to flip. Anyway, my surgeon said that she made me real tight and, trust me, I'm so tight I can barely swallow my own saliva! After I got used to the feeling, I was okay, but the area is swollen, hard and sore. Is this the way it's supposed to be, or is it because it took so long for them to find the area on the port for the fill with the needle in me?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
