Ok, I've read a lot about it but with 5 days out, I've not experienced it, and hopefully never will but just in case, can someone give me their personal experience with it. Not the dictionary version but your own personal experience. I previously had the LapBand and I vomited all the time, a painful vomit where I had to go lay down afterwards. I just want to know if the two compares. I currently have the sleeve BC of too many complications with the Lapband. Also were there certain things that would trigger dumping syndrome and for us "newbies" must stay way from. Thanks for sharing!

I am not certain what I had was dumping syndrome. On several occasions I have eaten too much or the wrong things. I have felt really awful until I vomited. The vomiting was not painful. I felt much better once it was done. I think the sleeve may handle foods and getting overfilled a bit more kindly than the bypass or band

Dumping is diarrhea. And it's awful

I ate a falafel and 2 tablespoons of hummus and 30 minutes later I has indigestion, hot flashes, intestinal cramping and liquid runs. The 2nd time I almost did not make it to the toilet.

It was bad.

Think stomach flu without the vomiting and once it's all out your done

One of my nurse friends that has the sleeve said dumping was where your pancreas dumps a bunch of insulin into your system and your really sick for about an hour . I hear once you have been through it you will never eat what made you dump again. She ate some chocolate.

I also had a similar reaction to hummus. Is it too much oil, I wonder? Here's a great list of dumping syndrome symptoms.

My doc also told me the term 'dumping' refers to the insulin increase, not the trips to the bathroom :)

I chalked it up to the oil

It was from am Arabic restaurant and had a lot

that's interesting. i wonder if that means, since i'm a Type 1 diabetic and don't produce insulin, if i will automatically avoid dumping?

Luckyyyyyyy

Bet you'd never think that with your diabetes.

My hubby is a type 1 and he lost 50 + pounds with no issues. Eats whatever no issues.

Just be careful on timing of insulin shot maybe?

vomiting is not dumping. dumping means undigested food esp sugar or fat are "dumped" into your small intestines.

the symptoms can be cramping, sweating, severe nausea, lightheadedness, dizziness, racing heart, paleness, fainting, low blood pressure, low blood sugar, weakness, extreme and/or explosive diarrhea. it can be mild or horrible, depending.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
