Recommended Posts

@@Angel I had my surgery on Monday 7/7 so we are in similar stages. I am having difficulties drinking all of my fluids so far I drink half a Protein shake and one bottle of Water. It hurts to drink more.

Im not comfortable sleeping in a bed I sleep in an elevated position on my couch. I am still taking pain meds I have liquid Tylenol so no crushing whiskey is good.

Im taking it one day at time hopefully it will get better soon.

Well it will get better somewhat. I am out 1 month and just starting feeling better this week. However food is another story. Everything makes me sick

I had my surgery July 09, 2014 I have done pretty good so far. I did heavily use my happy button while in the hospital. My surgeon tols me the sooner and moore ytou walk the quicker your pain and recovery will be. I used the advantage of the IV pain meds to start walking with in 2 hours of surgery. But when I got home it was so much harder. I did stop taking my home pain medications only because i was scared of addiction. I have had alot of pain since. But if I walk even if its up to the mailbox I start to feel better. Try walking just short walks.

Hi! I got home from the hospital yesterday. I had a RNY and hysterectomy on 7/15. The pain is a bit much, but not as awful as I thought. My biggest issue is the Water retention. I feel like a stay-puff marshmallow! I'm up 20 lbs from my check in weight at the hospital?!? I walked down our stairs today, got a shower, and walked around our (tiny) garden and am feeling a bit better. But the puffy arms/hands/body is driving me nuts!

Branstuff I had 24 pounds of Water retension. Today will be 1 week that im home from the hospital(after a 5 day stay)and I still have puffy feet. When you're sitting down or sleeping be sure to elevate your legs. 3 days ago my body started letting go of water. Be sure to stay near a bathroom as you'll need it.

I am in the middle of my first outing today. I walked around a small pet store fine. Then we hit Super Walmart. Walked the entire store before I gave up and sat down. I'm letting the other finish up without me. No pain meds since yesterday. Will probably take some when I get home though! Whew!

Hi everybody, How's everybody feeling today? I had a pretty good day spent some nice time with my sisters. Thought you might be interested in the following about the Panera bread and what they'll do the customers great! Someone said a while ago that it was good when you're on your puréed or full liquid to go to Panera bread and get a bowl of their broccoli cheese Soup blend it Well today I was out and about with my sisters who have helped me so much since my surgery on July 8th and I wanted to treat them to lunch. At Panera I asked if I could get a cup of broccoli cheese soup and if they would blend it for. Well they did and I ate 1/4 cup and took the rest home for a couple more meals. I just thought you all might want to know.

I am having a lot of bloating and gas. Does anyone have a good remedy?

Hi mamie60 - yesterday was my first full day out and it was great! I did have to take a mid day break to nap for a while but, all in all, it was so nice! I even drove! I was going to ask how the Soup did with your new tummy? I would be afraid of the fat content of the soup... It didn't bother you? Do you think that's where the bloating and gas are coming from? Both cheese and broccoli, in and of themselves, can cause gas, add that to milk and that might be your culprit. If not, the only thing that's worked to relieve gas and bloating for me are the gas ex strips that dissolve on your tongue and lots of walking.

Maime60 I am having the same issue. I have stayed away from any gas causing agents and even Lactose at this point just in case. I am up and walking quite a bit and yet still have bloating and gas. It is making me not want to eat or drink as I feel so full all the time- I know that I need to but it is a struggle.

I would love any ideas on this as well!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
