I am very new this site have started reading peoples posts and like what I see.

A little about me I am 220lb or 100kg, I am booked in to see the surgeon on the 22nd July 2014 to book in for a gastric sleeve in September 2014.

I have no reason for being over weight and no excuses, I am fat because I let myself get this way and now can't get myself out of it. My whole family is obese and I need to change for me.

I have not told anyone apart from husband, that I am doing this as I am embarrassed that I have got to this point.

So I am hoping to use this site to bounce off my thoughts and concerns. I look forward to learning about your thoughts and your journeys.

Well that's me in a nutshell.

Kntz, your story is everyones' story. A few details might change but we are all the same. We were sleeved 11/18 and 12/2. and I am down 60 lbs, my husband 100 lbs. We would do it again in a heartbeat!!! We feel like we are entirely new people today compared to last year. I personally, at 67 years old, felt I was done for, there was no living, just sitting in misery. Now I am doing yard work, dressing beautifully in my new wardrobe, and just came back from a 7 day cruise, a trip from Florida to KS and another trip to WV. Headed to New Orleans in a month. I am pinching myself. Loving life. You are in the right place, rest assured. Linda

Hey Linda, I'm in WV, do you have family here? Knzt, I have gained about 60 lbs in nine years, so it's time for me to change also!

Yes! Belington/Buckhannon area. Truly God's Country. If I were younger I would move there LOL!

Your doctor will pick one for you but most everyone here has their own goal weight. Mine is 150lb for myself, my surgeons goal is 170. So we differ by 20lbs. No biggie. A lot of times peoples goals will change too depending on how they feel and look when they get close! Good luck!

It doesn't really matter, just set a weight you desire to be. Many people surpass that. Dream come true!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
