Question regarding getting stuck.

Recommended Posts

I'm miserable. Have been stuck for over 2 hours. (never longer than 20 minutes before) Have gotten sick twice. Didn't help as much as you would think..or as I'd hoped. Since I'm relatively new to this and it's never happened like this before, how long do I go before I call someone? Just tough it out?

Depends. If it is something that will break down on it's own, you could wait it out. if it's something more solid (like a hunk of meat), you might want to get a bit of unfill to let it go down and give you some relief. What did you eat?

It was bread. I've been able to eat it before, but not today obviously. When I was going on my 3rd hour of being stuck I decided to just drive to the office. Thankfully I live close and he could work me in. As he was doing the unfill I felt instantly better. And he was able to put the liquid right back in. That was a hard lesson. After 3 hours of torture, if I don't learn to slow down and eat right then I am an idiot. Geez! Thank you for your input by the way.

@@ksc1965 so sorry you had to go through that but it's really great they could get you right in plus put the Fluid back, etc. I have been stuck several times and it's no fun. There are many people that can't tolerate bread. I guess it gets Gummy and seals up the pouch or something. I don't do bread, etc. because of craving Protein and other things. Best wishes to you! We all had to go through these kinds of episodes to get where we are now.

I drink Water when I am stuck. it either washes the little devil out or it pushes it through. I don't know if this is a acceptable method but I am over 2 hours away from my doctor and none of the emergency rooms between my house and my doctor will do anything with a band.

I've done this, too @@terrydumont46 -- I've used warm Water. Also we have a couple of pegs in a beam and I can kind of hang from it, arms overhead -- that seems to release things for me. I have heard windmill arms, etc. as well. Now it's been a while since I had an episode but I had to learn to slow down. Was such a shoveler!

@Bandista: I think you win the most creative solution to being stuck prize! (Hanging from a beam!)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
