Where are all my May Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Sleeved may 22 and down 46lbs as of this morning. I have definitely had my bouts with vomiting and I'm nauseous at least once a day. I was cleared for all foods at 6 wks with the exception of breads, pastas, and rice. But that doesn't seem to matter because I can only tolerate Protein Shakes ( and I use tolerate loosely), cheese, and yogurt. I've tried every meat in every way possible (not fried) and it makes me sick! Can't do eggs either. I get walking and swimming in occasionally but cannot fairly say I'm actively exercising. Just don't feel I'm getting enough calories in to do that yet. I did have hiatal hernia repair at the time of surgery, and my nutritionist says that may have a lot to do with me not tolerating a lot at this point. Overall, I'm happy with my results. Getting 50-70g of Protein in and I'm finally able to get my liquids in also. Taking my Vitamins too. And counting down the days to eating somewhat normal again.

Hi all,

Sleeved in Australia on May 14, I am down approximately 50 lbs at the moment.

Often hungry but can't eat much, taking a bit longer than I thought to get used to the sleeve, but I will get there I guess!

Yay! Yay! Yay! Me too! 197lbs from 242. So happy. I've been purging my closet of all my 18, 16, and 14's. Love being in regular size clothes again.

I was sleeved on 5/13/14 - 11 weeks ago - and down 35 lbs as of today. Its coming off slower than most people, but I did start out with a BMI of 36, so I was told I would lose slower and thats OK. Eating out sucks because I can still only eat about 4 oz of food and most of that is Protein so I don't get all my fruits and veggies in every day because of it and I still have a very hard time eating 1200 calories a day which I'll be discussing at my dr's appointment in 2 weeks. Still struggle with getting 64 oz of Water in every day because i get full so quickly...sipping is not doing it for me...still not able to get all that Water in. Regardless, I'm still losing and any loss is a good loss. Glad to hear you all are doing well!! Even at 35 lbs I'm still only down from an 18 to a 16, can't figure that one out, but hey, its still smaller than I was:) Keep in touch everyone!!

I had my sleeve on 5/5/14. Cinco de mayo. Some people have a margarita, I had surgery. LOL. I'm in a bit of a stall right now, but I'm okay with that. I'm down over 60 lbs, so that's nothing to be sad about! I'm working out like a fiend and eating the way I'm supposed to. And I can buy clothes from Old Navy in the store instead of having to order online in the plus section now. Yay!

I was also sleeved on Cinco "goodbye old you"! I am down about 60 lbs, although I have hit a stall the last couple weeks, I am happy that I can get back into my size 14s again from the 20s I was in pre-op. Today I was even able to wear a pair of almost brand new Wranglers hubby bought me for christmas a few years back. Yippie!

I have found a new confidence and excitement in so many things. I even volunteered to be team mom for my son's jr football team this year, and am excited to do more than just sit on the sidelines cheering him on...although I will be doing that too! There are lots of things I won't be just sitting on the sidelines watching anymore. I love this new life and am excited to feel like I am actually living and not just existing within the shell of my body.

Sleeved 5/19. I'm at a good place weight wise. I would like to lose some more so that I am "comfortable" right now I'm so aware of my weight (even though I only weigh myself once a week). I just don't feel I have any wiggle room for a vacation or whatever.

I work out a lot (jog). I usually have to drag myself to get going, but love that feeling when I'm done!

I haven't had carbs much yet...too nervous to go there. Poultry, seafood, Beans, spinach and cheese. My refrigerator is interesting....very carnivorous. :)

My results may not be average. I did not have an extremely high BMI.

I was sleeved the same day as you & have lost about the same amount. Right now am dealing with the scale being a little higher...just had my gallbladder out on Wed. So much fun to deal with the gas pain & Fluid gain again, but hopefully I will feel much better soon. I struggle with 64 oz of Water too. I'm not a big fan of flavored waters, but some of the Propel flavors have helped me get more fluids in. Congrats to everyone!!

Hello, My surgery was May 20th. On first day of pre op I weighed 241, 233 the day of surgery, this morning I weighed in at 217.4. I get upset when I see how slow my weight is coming off in comparison to others, but then I realize I am not "others" I am myself and down is down. Slow and steady wins the race right? lol Anyway, I started the Couch 2 5k program last week, and I am beginning week 2 tonight. Last week was a stall, the entire week, didnt lose a lb and now I have lost a lb a day for the last 3 days, ILL TAKE IT! My surgeon set a goal of 180lb for me. Ill get there, then set a new goal. I am lucky that I don't vomit (at least haven't) I do occasionally get hiccups, those can be annoying, but at least its not pain. Sometimes I Find it hard to get my Water in..and thats just pure ignorance and neglect on my part. Any favorite easy "snacks" that you all take to work or out the door with you? I eat my yogurt daily, but I'd like a little something else.

I love emeralds assorted nuts for a snack.

I was sleeved on May 8th. I weighed 216 day of surgery. Now today I am happy to say I am 180, can't wait to get through the 170s!!! 36lbs since surgery and 51 lbs since preop. I have no nausea or vomiting at a all. I get to have raw veggies next week which is great I'm curious to see how a salad sits with me. But as for meat and all other food I have no problems. I struggle to drink 64 oz a day but I have never drank that much so it's still hard. I do get the Protein in and the premiere Protein Shakes help me with that. I love the chewable Bariatric Fusion berry Vitamins they sit well. I had a rough recovery and I was in the hospital 8 days and had to go in for a second surgery but it was all with it for how I feel today. Good luck to you all!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
