Tomorrow is the big day!

Recommended Posts

I'm in the final 24 hours before I report to the hospital to start this new chapter in my life. It's only Clear liquids today then absolutely nothing tomorrow after the surgery. But I'm hoping the drugs will more than compensate for that!

I've enjoyed sharing this part of the journey will all my "family" here on the board, and I hope to stay in touch on the flip side.

Mahalo,

Josh

Hi Josh,

Don't worry, you won't stay awake long enough to think or want food.

Good luck. I'm wishing you a healthy and happy recovery.

Thanks! Glad to hear that I'll be out of it for most of the day. Now if I can just get through this clear-liquid day today I'll be set.

Josh, one way to do that is stay busy. Keep posting on here, post all your questions and concersn, read a few posts and think about tomorrow and it will be here sooner than you think. It's less than 24 hours now.

That's a good idea. I'm sure I'll be posting as my coherence level allows!

Today has been kinda boring (although it's not even half over!) and I've been dealing with a caffeine withdrawal headache. Other than that I'm doing ok. Looking forward to being on the other side!

I'll update as I can!

Thanks! I am home but resting through the night has been problematic the last few nights. I try to lay down but end up forced to sit up to sleep thanks to the acid reflux. I've been chomping Tums and drinking some Maalox in an effort to keep the acid at bay so I can sleep (in addition to the once-a-day Nexium prescribed by the doc).

Aside from that, I've been ok. Still getting used to how little I'm able to sip.... So it feels like I spend all day sipping or taking small "bites" from Soups and yogurts. I'm still in Stage 2 Full liquids, but my family and I have gotten creative with what all we can make palatable.

I go back to the doc on the 17th, so hopefully either I will have progressed past the acid problems by then or can seek his advice on what other options might be available. Only time will tell!

Are my experiences relatively normal? Do you see anything else I can be doing to make the process go more smoothly?

Thanks for all your help!

Josh your experiences are definitely normal. I am at 5 weeks post op and let me tell you that eventually you will be able to take bigger sips and the reflux will get better. Your new stomach is still very inflamed. Things will get better, enjoy this wonderful journey.

Thanks for the insights. It's just frustrating not being able to lie down to go to sleep. I've been able to get at most 4 hours at a time, which makes for a very cranky me the next day. I keep telling myself that it's going to get better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
