Yes I've met him once, he laughed at after reading my occupation was a" Domestic Goddess". After that he was all business. I'm not too put off by his shortness. I have one appointment with him before my pre open appointment which is weird since my insurance approval hasn't been sent yet. Guess that's how southcoast works.

Dr. Kruger did my sleeve and I agree he doesn't have the best bed side manner. From people I know that work with him say he's like that because he is a good surgeon and he knows it. He was very nice to me when I saw him in the hospital. A little more talkative and stayed more than 2 minutes.

Dr Streeter did my sleeve. He and his staff were great! My roommate was a nightmare, BUT I've lost 100 pounds! Last summer sucked but this summer has been amazing so far!! Going to the beach all the time, lobster salad and I even had my first drink since surgery. ( a lite Cosmo )!

Life is good :)

Hello Missy815

Did you have to do a liquid diet for southcoast? I am down 14 pounds was told by a NP unless I was 400lbs or more not to worry about losing a large amount before surgery. She just said keep losing and don't worry about it.

I didn't have any pre-op liquid diet for Dr. Kruger. The only dietary restrictions they put on me pre-op was the day before surgery: nothing but liquids after noontime, and absolutely nothing after midnight.
On my own, I did give up coffee and tried to eat healthier between April (my first consultation) and my surgery date (which ended up being in July of last year). I lost 18 pounds pre-op that way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
