How long did it take from first appt to surgery date?

My insurance is easy. I just need to have a BMI of 35+ and one co-morbility and that's exactly what I have... so what should take so long? Any guesses on when I would have surgery (month) I have my first appt with surgeon on July 22. already have doctors letter, blood work done and sleep study records.

Thanks for any thoughts and opinions :)

If you have no 3 or 6 month doctor supv visits you are lucky. I would guess between 30-45 days after insurance approval has been obtained. It really depends on how busy your surgeon is. Mine is in high demand and it was 2 full months after insurance approval.

I had my surgery just shy of 2 months after my first surgical appointment. It could have been 2 weeks earlier but I needed to work around work schedules. Good luck!

I had mine in about 6 - 7 weeks after my first visit with my surgeon. He required so many doctor visits to specialist (pulmonologist, cardiologist, endocrinologist, psychiatrist, nutritionist, endoscopy and sleep study - then sign-off by my PCP) but I was very serious about them and had those accomplished quickly.

My first visit with the office was in January and my surgery on June. I had a bunch of things I had to attend first, an appt with a nutritionist, psych eval, self help group, surgery talk. Once those were complete they submitted to my insurance and then called me about 8 weeks later. Then all the tests came to prepare me. I think the main reason it took so long was the availability of all these appointments and seminars.

My surgeons office said at least 4 months to get through their requirements, not including insurance requirements. They are a Center of Excellence organization and they are thorough. I am steadily working my way through their requirements and my insurance requirements at the same time. My last weight management appointment with my primary care is 8/5. My file will be sent to insurance for prior authorization after that and hopefully surgery can be done before Labor Day!

Depends on your insurance, really. I have Kaiser so there was a LOT of appointments as well as three months worth of health classes. Then a few more appts after that.

My timeline: referral for bariatric surgery sent by my PCP: July 2013. Had surgery March 2014.

Mine was about a year. I had to go through a rigourous program with Nutrition, group meetings, behavioral medicine, regular checkups etc. I was frustrated about it at first, but I am so incredibly thankful that I have all the knowledge and education now post-op. I know you must be anxious to get your surgery but make sure you have all the information and knowledge you need beforehand!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
