@@evanslaura79 Yes, chicken fried bacon. They said it was pretty good, especially with the spicy dipping sauce. I'll just have to take their word for it.

@@sandymom lunch yesterday was okay. I just spooned up the juicy part of the Soup and chatted away. And I'm not sure about the button on the iPhone. I don't like using the app on my phone for anything other than browsing. When I want to respond or type something up, I use the web version of the site, so those were the instructions I was giving! Didn't even think about it!

@@medic45C Hi there! How are you feeling? What have you been eating?

@@vsgjourney I'm sorry you're not feeling well. The yogurt isn't part of my diet at least until week 3. I can do the shakes okay, but they taste different to me now. My biggest problem, I think, is that I eat and drink too fast. Now when I'm eating and I'm doing the right portions, I'm kind of sad when I'm finished because I don't experience the same kind of full that I used to. But I do find that I'm satisfied; I just don't get the same enjoyment out of eating like I used to. Good for my health; bad for my list of hobbies!

I spoke to the dr. office and was told to stay on the clear liquid diet. I hope this works out for me.

Hello ladies! Just a quick personal update. Ten days out, and as of today I am staple free! Huge relief as they were becoming really itchy. I hope everyone else is feeling good!

@@evanslaura79 I got my staples out on Friday, too. Mine weren't so much itching as stabbing me, but I feel soooo much better now that they're out. I can finally sleep more comfortably--even on my stomach, which I have missed. I will admit that I'm very much over Protein Shakes, but the thought that it's just one more week keeps me going. I also need to start walking more. I'm coming up on the dreaded three-week stall that everyone talks about, although I think I'm already in a stall. The scale hasn't really moved for me in about a week, and I did a lot of walking downtown this weekend. I'm not discouraged, as I know this is all part of the progress. I just know I need to do more work.

Hope everyone else is doing okay.

I have stalled too and I am only 2 weeks out. Still on liquids...but have not seen the scale drop since Thursday. A little disappointing. I expected the liquids phase to be the time I drop the most.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to check in and let y'all know how I was doing. So far, I feel really great! I am able to get in 80-90oz of Fluid a day. The only problem I am having is Protein, everything I try makes me so sick! I don't know if it is the smell or the taste, but my tiny tummy does not like it. I am getting about 20g of protein just by drinking some skim milk. Everyday gets a little better! Hope all of you are doing well!

Glad you are doing well! You might try scooping one scoop of unflavored Protein Powder and sprinkling just a little of it in your milk throughout the day.....

@@tfowler I can relate on the walking. Its so hot after work the last darn thing I want to do is go out and sweat.I have decided I am not going to weigh myself more than once a week. That will keep me from getting discouraged during stalls I am hoping.

I am having a weird pain just under my left breast area. It is starting to keep me up at night. If I lay on my left side it abates. I dont know what in the world is causing it if not gas......

I am over Protein Shakes as well. Unfortunately I will be extending my liquid phase a week due to travel. I figure that isnt an ideal time to start trying to add things in. I am looking forward to mashed potatoes though!

@@Dulce_jtrivera I tried the Unjury unflavored Protein Powder in some Soup, and it was okay. I agree with @@evanslaura79 on that one. I've read so many postings on here from people whose doctors don't harp on the Protein until they start the pureed or soft foods part of their diets. I'm just trying to get in as much liquid and protein as possible, but I'm not going to stuff myself. I can't tolerate that stabbing feeling in my stomach that races through my esophagus when I overdo it.

I think weighing only once per week is a good idea. Unfortunately, it will take some restraint for me to do that, but I think I'm up for the challenge. I won't weigh myself again until Monday and then Mondays will be my normal weigh-in days from then on. I'd like to say that, regardless of my current "stall," I think my pants have gotten just a bit looser than they were before surgery. Granted, I've only lost 28 pounds total so far, so I can't tell anything when I look in the mirror. I know that it will take more time before I start noticing any significant changes, but it was a little nice not feeling the complete restriction in my trusty black pants. I never really took a good "before" picture or measured myself, so maybe that's also a task I can complete this week.

Did everyone else do the picture and measure thing?

My two-week post op appointment is tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it! Why, you ask? I have no idea! I guess it just puts me one day closer to be fully recovered and able to "start" living my new life. Just for the record, that sounds ridiculous to me, too, because gosh knows this has already begun. I have gotten to where I can drink in entire Protein Drink with a cup of 1% milk in the morning. I feel like that's a good start to my Protein intake daily (32 grams)! Can't wait to be able to supplement that with food :-)

As for before pictures, I don't really have any "good" ones, either. I started looking back at pictures, and I seem to always be behind something...lol! I do know I plan on keeping a pair of jeans and a top, so I have a constant reminder of where I started.

Well, enough of my babbling. I hope everyone is doing great! Keep up your hard work and keep on losing!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
