Did you try the gas x... I dont really know for a fact that it helps but I am taking it and I release alot of gas...also...do you have someone to "burp" you. Just like a baby , my hubby would pat my back all around and that seemed to help a TREMENDOUS amount!!! Hope you start to feel better soon. How long since you have been banded? Deanna

This is my first time to this site. I am in the process (Psych eval tomorrow) of getting the lap band. I've been reading posts about gas and this scares me. Do you seem to have excess gas just after the surgery or is it a part of life afterwards? I teach and cannot be having this problem if ya know what I mean? *lol*

The gas won't affect your life or anything it's just annoying at times. When I am really tight right after a fill I feel like I need to burp and can't or can only get out a little one only to need to do it again and it's very frustrating. I will try gas-x next time. As for feeling tight, try something warm to drink. Warmth soothes and opens the stoma which should help the gas release and sooth your throat. I prefer hot honey Water as the honey coats the throat and calmes any irritation.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
