Do the same rules apply to regular stomachs?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to be a good student and start practicing some of the habits I'll have to develop after surgery. Recently I started eating my meals without any beverages. It seemed like something that might be tough to do so I figured it would be good to start now. It is easier than I thought it would be but I swear I'm staying full longer between meals. Is this just in my head or does this trick work on full size stomachs??

It worked for me and I recommended it for tons of friends and we all felt fuller longer. I lost 5 pounds in one month just doing that and nothing else

practicing habits to develop after surgery

@@*Lexie*

welcome to the neighborhood :)

always room for one more :)

you are GREAT for prepping yourself for surgery

not drinking with meals is VERY hard for some/many/me to learn how to do, and then master!!

good for you on starting to deal with that now!!!!

after you eat, you know you aren't supposed to drink again for one week!!!! :o

gotcha!!~! i meant one hour!!

Many/most "rules" that sleevers et al are just basic things that "normal" people should also do

moderate/smalll portions

eat slowly

eat dense Protein first (ie chicken) this will make you full quicker

monitor your carbs

keep track of what foods you are eating

chew thoroughly

put utensil down between bites

eat from a small plate

64 oz Water per day

(more rules too, these are just a few examples)

these are normal things -some/many/most people should/but don't do

i know i sure didn't follow those rules pre-op

hope surgery is sooner than later

I give you an A- right now

always room for improvement :)

you'll be at A+ before you know it!!! :)

good luck

kathy

Funny - that's something my grandma did, but I didn't know why... but she did struggle with her weight, so that may have been it! It makes sense that perhaps our stomachs empty out into our intestines sooner if the food is liquified with the help of Water. Not sure about that, but maybe...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
