Status 4 months out, loss 56lbs. Today are Greek yogart for Breakfast, salmon/salad for lunch. Don't think it had MSG but got a headache after. Then small kid shake for dinner because I am not hungry and thgt it would hold me. I got the sweats, shakes, felt like I was going to throw up. Could barley make it back to my hotel and had to lay down. Now I have cramps in calfs and feet bad. I have drank Water all day.

My hair is starting to fall out at this point my nutrition lady said it is normal. BTW I am taking all my Vitamins.

What in the world... ??? Feels like hypoglycemic which I had before I lost the weight. Scary today.

Anyone ever felt like this? Was it the shake, not enough food?

sounds like dumping. You should not be having sugary/carby/fatty things. Your tummy is too small to waste space on anything other than Protein, at this point, anyway.

Find a Protein shake that you like. I mix chocolate Protein powder, crushed ice and Water in a bullet type blender. Makes a super creamy milkshake tasting Protein Drink. Sometimes I add some PB2, YUM!!

EAS AdvantEdge carb control, RTD are my favorite RTD shakes. But we all have different tastes, so try and find one that you enjoy.

Not enough Protein in your diet will make hair loss worse. My NUT told me to aim for 80 gms per day.

Feel better

I got my blender at Aldi, but this one is almost the same. Makes great shakes

yeah, traveling is tough, if you aren't prepared. Maybe next time you can bring some RTD shakes, or other sources of Protein that you know your body can handle. Are you feeling better, now?

A little but it sure drained me. Here I thought I was prepared but apparently not enough. 2nd day without my regular Protein Shake makes a huge difference in my energy and well being. Definitely feel it was drop in blood sugar. Thanks for responding! Nice to have support and I love this website. Still in bed taking it easy, lesson learned!

Tomorrow is a new day, so hang in there. I haven't experience dumping since surgery but I had terrible bouts prior and thought it was irritable bowel. Eventually I figured out mine is caused by too much lactose. I have almost blacked out with these same sort of experiences before. Terrible cramps. Explosive diarrhea. Sweats. Ice cream products - especially Dairy Queen are the absolute worst! Lessons learned the hard way are sometimes the best lessons. Try finding a grocery store and picking up a couple of pre-mixed Protein Shakes - you can easily find ice to pour them over so they are cold.

I'm no dr or nutrition specialist, but If that's all your eating, your defiantly not getting enough Protein. Try some beef Jerky it's like 20 grams of protein per serving and can be picked up at most convience stores.

If this is something that us happening more then once I would defiantly follow up with your dr.

Best of luck to you

Thanks traveling so I couldn't find place with Protein shakes. You all are right!

Just an emergency thing I keep on hand, and in the car: You can buy small packages of shelf-stable milk (looks like juice boxes - on the aisle with powdered milk most often) and keep a shaker/blender bottle with a few emergency baggies of Protein powder in the car. The milk I bought last week has a "use by" date of September 2014! I keep on at work, one at the back of home frog and one in my car. Also you can get a cup of ice to add to it anyplace pretty much. You could literally shake this up in the bathroom of a restaurant before a meal even - so you don't feel like a milkshake is your only option. So sorry that happened to you! Ick.

I'm 2.5 years out, and had dumping, for the 1st time, last month. Was AWFUL!!!!! I passed out on the bathroom floor. Think the cramps triggered a vaso-vagal attack. Had ordered a small ff/sf frozen yogurt, but they gave me twice as much. And, of course, the fat kid in me ate the whole darn thing!! Lesson learned...........now I get child size!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
