No he didn't. But the nurse said that everyone will have times where they lose inches with no pounds and then pounds with no inches. I'm definitely losing inches but I want to see some pounds!

Thank you for that nx4slim. It's reassuring to hear the professionals saying that. Glad you're losing inches too. I would hate it should we be losing nothing at all. I have been looking at photos from my heaviest and can see clearly that things are shifting, I'm gonna ignore the scales for a bit, not get so tied up with it. Well, at least try. Some of my clothes are really big on me, so something is happening x

I totally agree with Treilly - it's the average that matters. In the beginning your body is going through all sorts of changes and the weight loss is so inconsistent. Don't worry - the procedure will work :) If you look at other threads on this website, the scale not moving is such a common complaint - but if you look at the average weight loss, the normal range is around 3-4 pounds a week (a lot more than your average 1-2 pounds on a "diet"). WLS is not a magic bullet, just a tool - it will take us all around a year to get where we want to be. Faye and Hilary - just keep on persevering - you will succeed!! Increase your exercise if you feel you want to do something and please, please, don't weigh yourselves every day. Look at this long-term - what is my average weight-loss over the last 5 weeks etc.

I had surgery March 13, 2014 and the same thing happened to me and I thought that my doctor would be upset but he was actually excited and stated that the weight is coming off as planned slow and steady which is better. At 3 month I had another stall after going to gym it almost made me stop working out bc I actually gained weight but I'm happy to say I'm back loosing again I'm so excited 3 months out and 50 pounds gone forever

Didn't have Tim to read all the replies but I did notice a lot of you are having trouble. I just want to offer some HOPE.

I'm a year and a half post RNY gastric bypass with the silastic ring. I have lost of health problems so the first four months were not very successful for me. I had a lot of set backs and hospital visits, so my time has not all been focused on losing, but the first four months were very slow. Most of my weight has been lost in this last year. I told myself that I had do e something very drastic to my body, and I better use that tool while it works the best in thT first year. So no matter what stalls may come, I kept loosing. Whether it is lbs or inches or even just ounces, count it as a victory. And also remember that if you are exercising, you are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, so make sure you measure, because you may not be stalled at all. Also consider your diet, some docs don't give there patients any restrictions, my dr. has us eat only lean Protein for the first 50-60. % of weight needed to be lost then we get veggies back. After we get to 70% lost we are allowed fruits, and at maintenance we are on unrestricted, except for high sugar , high fat foods. I lost all my weight on that plan and according to doc even need to gain a few. You CAN do this. Use your tool and when you get frustrated choose to do something that will benefit weight loss. Exercise is supposed to release those same endorphins that we get from eating, we just need to change our coping skills from eating to exercising, I can't do much with my disAbility, but I'm looking into tai chi or yoga to try and help my body cope a different way. God bless and don't lose hope, find strength in saying you CAN do this.

Seems like a theme early on....body just trying to adjust and retraining it to believe that less calories isn't starvation mode and it can let go of this miserable fat! I've decided the scale is going away as well. Trying once a week. It's that stupid thing that triggered me in the past to just give up. Not going to let it do it to me this time 'round!

Good for you Rome! - the scale is sometimes more of a hazard than a friend. Just went to my appointment (4 months) and they are delighted with my loss of around 60 lbs. Looking for a loss every day can be discouraging when we go into "starvation mode". The Nurse Practitioner told me it was very common and not to be distressed - things will change. Keep doing the Protein, Water and exercise! - And only weigh once a week :)

I'm in the same boat too. It's been ten days no wight lost . But I'm gonna keep my head up and hopefully this will pass soon.

I decided at the very beginning of this surgery that I will only weigh myself 2x a month. The scale has played such a negative roll for me in the past. Numbers aren't everything but it's what we all really want to see for proof that we are losing! I figure even if I only lose a pound or 2 in the 2 weeks at least it's a loss and I can go on my happy way for 2 more weeks lol. My surgery was May 8 and as of last Monday my total loss is only 35 pounds ( that's including 13 pounds lost pre op). I've decided I'm just going to be a slow loser. Although i wish the scale said I weigh less, I can see the pounds melting off and my clothes are finally getting too big, so I'm concentrating more on that now. I started in a size 18-20 and I wore a pair if size 16 pants to work yesterday ( no elastic or anything lol), my shirts are starting to look too big and baggy, so those are the things I'm concentrating on instead of numbers.

Thank you everyone for the posts. It is so hard not to compare yourself to others! I had no weight loss prior-so I started at zero. Now at 41 and the scale isn't budging but I am tossing it out too. I weigh myself too much and 2 times a month is enough, I like that idea. I am too over doing it with this. I have to stop comparing too and just be happy with where I am and count the inches too. Inches do couont! Rome wasn't built in a day and since when was the scale this important to me? Never!!!!! I am just thrilled to be on this train.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
