Surgery in 2 weeks! ☺️

Recommended Posts

I'm a newcomer! I have been reading some of the posts about people having to be on liquids for 2 weeks pre-op..but my surgeon doesn't do that..wonder why. I do follow a 2 week pre-op diet consisting of mostly fruits, veggies and Protein, and I've started that..going well so far.

Having my sleeve in 2 weeks..any great must haves for after surgery? Helpful tips? Thanks! -Ashley

Lip balm! Some people bring a small pillow, it's nice to have for the ride home( put it between seat belt and belly). Something easy to put on when your are discharged... I brought a sports bra and maxi dress( no waist line to rub the incisions) don't forget a charger for your electronics( bring an extra long one if you have it) pre op diets- each doctor does their own thing. I had a two week liquid diet and I think that was harder than my recovery after surgery. My pain has been manageable. Get up and walk as soon as possible!

Best wishes on your surgery, I am 9 days post op with no regrets!

Thank you for the advice!! Yeah I can't imagine having to do a pre-op liquid diet for 2 weeks! I'm so glad you have no regrets..I've heard some discouraging things reading some of these threads so I'm happy to hear you are having a positive experience :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
