I am a week post op and I have a rash across my stomach where my bandages were. I have had them off for days so I'm not sure why they just came out of nowhere. They do itch.

I did a Google search and saw it's rather common. Dr visit or just let it be?

i would personally put some cortisone on it and see how it looks by tomorrow. i'm sensitive to bandaid adhesive and my stomach kinda looked like yours.

I had the same thing that actually spread to my entire body :-( Hives of unknown origin is what they diagnosed me with lol! THe doctor said that if you are allergic to something that it doesnt always show up right away. He said it could be reaction to antibiotics they gave in hospital, adhesive from the steri strips, etc. I was told to take benedryl, take cold shower and pat dry (no hot showers...will make you itch worse!) and some cortisone cream.

Did the trick and it was gone within 3-4 days.

It could also be a rash from taking pain meds if you are on codine. I know my mom and my daughter are both prone to rashes with pain meds.

Call your Dr...maybe something like neosporin or something to help with the rash/itch

I'm not taking any pain meds at all. I'm guessing it has something to do with the adhesive. It actually burned my skin in one spot on the side.

I took benadryl last night but can't during the day because it knocks me out.

I'm glad my incisions look good. My Dr didn't glue them or anything so I was worried.

rash across my stomach

@@Sassypants92201

sorry about your itchy rash

its great to ask any and all questions on the board

getting good comments from others that might have similar problems, or a good suggestion of what the remedy could by

after all is said and done with the good advice/comments from "us"......

(.as you can see B) , we are all quite smart ..)

see/talk to your doc

he's the one to ALWAYS listen to first, second, third, etc. etc. etc ;)

stop scratching!!! (doc would probably say the same!!) :)

good luck

Yes, I understand Dr is always best but I do not like to waste insurance money and Dr time, my time going to the Dr when I don't have to.

If insurance covered the surgery there should be a "global period" where all surgical related issues are covered 100% with no co-pay.

I was self pay. Rash is getting worse and has spread. I am going to urgent care now.

I do have insurance but I don't like to go to the Dr unless I have to. I feel insurance costs are so high because people jump and go to the Dr over every little thing. But that's a whole different message board. ;)

They gave me a steroid shot and a steroid prescription for home. The rash is gone but I'm still itchy in some places. I switched to muscle milk because it's dairy free.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
