I'm doing great! Easiest surgery I've been through. I went yesterday to my follow-up and I'm down 24 pounds! Got my bandage off from where he took my lapband port out. That's my worst incision.

How about a whole community of sleevers to compare notes with: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/259587-dfw-area-weight-loss-surgery-support-groups-list/

Highly recommended: THINspiration Weight Loss Support Group, every third Saturday of the month (contact KevLev12282012 (Kevin Levin) here to attend or let me know and I'll tell him for you). Check out the rest as well, we have a great WLS community in DFW. :D

Hello to all

My surgery was on Wednesday (July 2nd)

I live in the Oak Lawn area - I will check out the support group listings on this thread - As a social worker, I think mutual support is as essential as the surgery for long term success and think the doctors should actually emphasize it more than they do. Even though I feel ok physically (for now) I think it is wise for anyone that can get to get to a support group - including myself :D

I'm glad to know there are groups in Dallas bc my doctor's/program's support group is in Ft Worth and I can't drive there from work to get there in time.

I am in Sanger (Denton). My wife and I both had surgery on May 28th, 2014. We probably wouldn't go to meetings (just not our thing) but I'll myfitness pal or something like that with anyone :)

Well, Sanger is kinda far anyway!

I didn't think I'd enjoy meetings, but I do. I go to Baylor's meeting in Grapevine and love it. I learn so much from the people who have already been through all of this.

I started with Dr. Kim and switched to Dr. Nicholson. The only reason I switched was because the hospital did the surgery at (Texas General) was not in my network with Cigna. Dr. Kim is a great Dr. and a good guy. I enjoyed meeting him. So what did you think of Texas General? I know it's a relatively new hospital that opened up after a long hiatus.

My suregery is July 31st at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Plano. I've been working on this since January 6th. Glad to finally see it through.

Texas General isn't on anyone's network BUT they have some kind of deal with Dr Kim. I paid for my surgery out of pocket so the savings really helped. I started with Kim April 4th and had the procedure 6/10. It all happen really fast! The hospital and the staff were all very very nice. I really feel they provided top of the line care. I had an entire team of staff helping me post op and Dr Kim is one hell of a surgeon. I was asking to go for a walk right after waking up in the recovery room.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
