Hmmm...I am 3 days post-op...haven't heard anything, and don't go back for 5 weeks for a check...it kinda bothers me a bit, in terms of my incisions not being checked, etc. I paid $16,000 out of pocket...someone look at me, dang it.

I voted yes, because he came and saw me the next day in the hospital. He also came to see me before and after the surgery, and spoke to Jonathan after he came from the operating room.

I've also been emailing with him from home.

I met my surgeon for an appointment before surgery, On surgery day, I saw him talking to a nurse when I went in the pre-op room. He didn't acknowledge me or speak to me. I was the last surgery of the day, he didn't even go tell my DH that I was done. My DH had seen him tell the other DH's throughout the morning. I never saw him again except once on about my 6th appointment with the nurse, he was in the office and came in my room for 3 minutes. This is pretty much a Get her Done operation they got going. Wham Bam thank ya mame.

I met with my surgeon before surgery for about 15 minutes. He met with my husband after surgery and explained everything to him. After surgery he came into see me twice in recovery. He noticed that there was blood in the cath and stayed with me while they put me on antibiotics. He came to my room and checked on me the following day, as did his Intern. In addition, I met with his NP a week later and with him when I was three weeks out. We were given the cell phone numbers of his nurse and his NP in case of emergencies. He's just one of those guys that makes you feel calm as soon as he walks into the room. I'm really glad that I chose him. He did well in my "interview." Two other potential surgeons failed miserably.

I know a nurse called me from the surgical center but not my surgeons office. It is my opinion that I just needed my surgeon to do the surgery and do it right and it is my hope that I dont need to see him after he does his part. Now, I was outpatient so that might be a horse of a different color. I saw my surgeon at my first post op appointment to make sure all is well and that was about two weeks later. I did not feel like a herd of cattle. I look at it as efficiency. Also, this doc spent at least an hour talking to me when I first met with him. He visited me pre-op and talked to my family afterwards. I assume after that he went on to the next patient.

No, I never saw my surgeon on the day of the surgery. I stayed overnight and he came in the next day to discharge me but that was it. He was however great with my family after the surgery.....

Now during my pre op visit he spent about an hour+ with 4 of us having the lap band explaining everything and anything. Even gave us a CD of him explaining everything so we could go over it if needed. Very straight forward and didn't sugar coat a thing and then individually for about 15min. I needed him to be the best at what he does and he is the best!!!!

The aftercare from the hospital was awesome and that was more important to me.

I went for my post op yesterday and was told I will only see him if something goes wrong.........

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
