Help! Cant stop sneezing

Recommended Posts

Every time I eat I start sneezing before I'm done with the food. It's every meal. Is my body trying to tell me something? Really, it's very annoying. I'm not talking about one discreet sneeze. Sometimes 8-12 huge sneezes that I have to close my legs to hold my pee. Is that normal? It's just me??? When I'm home it's kinda ok, but it happens everywhere, anytime. I was sleeved 5 weeks ago, doing great otherwise. ; )

Nope, you are not alone! :) I've experienced the same thing since the beginning (4 years ago!) Once I eat to where food hits a "certain spot" (I dont know how else to describe it.) then I start sneezing! 8-9 times! That's my "I know I'm full" signal. Sometimes earlier (less food) than other times depending on type of food.

My Nut told us that when you are full your body try's to tell you your full in different ways, including sneezing. You may be full and you just don't know it. :))

if sneezing is your only problem, GET OVER IT!!! :o

sneezing might be alittle annoying - but its telling you that the sleeve is working with you :)

many, many people sneeze when they are approaching or are full :o

this is a sign "from above" ;) telling you to stop eating!!

other people (me) will hiccup LOUDLY (did you hear me last night?? :D )

i'm 2.5 years PO and it sometimes still happens to me (not often)

pre-op my doc told me to eat til i'm full, but stop 2 bites earlier!!

glad things are going so well :)

keep up the great work like i know you are :)

good luck :)

Your sleeve is telling you that you ate too much. The food is so crammed into your stomach that the vagus nerve is being irritated. When you have eaten so much that you sneeze, make note of how much you ate and next time make sure you eat less than that. Keep repeating until you find out how much you can eat without irritating the vagus nerve.

agree with above- its your vagal/vagus nerve. tricky little thing that nerve! you are stimulating it too much.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
