my lap band area is painful can't eat. I wonder if my band has slipped ?

Recommended Posts

I have been having alot of pain around my band. I heard the more you loose you can feel it more when you touch your stomach. The last few months I have had dental work and refused to take Lortabs so choose Goody powders. Is there a possibility that my band has slipped or even erroded ? I need to make an appt. Does anyone know how they check for that without doing any type of surgical procedure?

around your band (like you can feel it on your stomach?) or are you talking about your port?

either way.. this def sounds like a doctor question. i would call them immediately.

You should definitely call your doctor. I believe Aspirin is in Goody's, which is a huge no no with the lap band. And it looks like you're only two months out. It sounds like you may be having issues from that. Your doctor can best advise. He/she may want to do an GI swallow and/or an endoscopy. Either way, surgery is not involved unless you actually have a slip.

Good luck.

Call your doctor. They can diagnose an issue with your band without doing surgery. They can do an x-ray which will show them the position, they can do a barium swallow, they can do a die test, all of which will show them if there are any issues and I'm sure there are other procedures as well. Call them now, don't put it off

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
