Anyone lose more than 50lbs in this age group (over 60) ?

Hi Babs - have you looked into exercising in a pool. Don't know if you live in a city or not, but if there's a pool available, you can get a real workout in a pool exercise class.
Congrats on the 60 pounds. That's nothing to sneeze at. Best to you.

I'm 67 and in the pre op process. I too have bad knees which has led me to the bariatric surgery since I need to reduce my BMI in order to fix my knees. I will check back in when I'm schedualed for surgery. Good luck everybody...GOD SPEED 💜

I'm 62 had the sleeve surgery on 10-03-17 so far I have lost 58 pounds. My knees still hurt but I'm sure I will need to get them fixed. Otherwise I feel good. So happy I did this. I was not in any pain after surgery. I still can't eat much more than 1/2 cup of food. But I'm never hungry so it's not a bad thing. I cannot eat chicken, bread, crackers, or rice. I don't feel well if I do. In fact I just don't like to eat anymore. Which is ok by me. I eat because I should.

I am 58 and had my vsg in July 2017. Weight loss has been slow, but I am losing inches and I do feel great!

Its slow but, at least I am not gaining. The best part is no one seems to notice much and since my surgery is a secret, its a blessing! !

I did end up telling my sisters and they have been very supportive!

Hi. I just wanted to share. I have list ,70 pounds since Feb. 2017. My Dr thinks I should have lost more. I have 30 more to lose. But I am 67 years old and am OK with what I have lost. I did this for health and not for looks. Hang in there. IT'S NOT EASY!

I am 67 also. Surgery date 9\12\17. I’m down 40 since surgery and 78 in total. I’m with you....this is a health issue...we’ll never be 35 again...lol. Take your time and your body will tell you when you are where you need to be. As for having a number goal.....I don’t think it’s that important...if my numbers are good and I feel good then my goals are met. I live in WASHINGTON Where are You?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
