First non scale victory since pre-op started....

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Today I had my very first noticeable non-scale victory. With being a big girl I only had two pairs of jeans. One pair I just bought in February for my grandson b-day party. Well they are so baggy now(YEAH). The other pair I could fit but unable to breath if I wore them. Well today I decided to try them on and low and be hold they FIT! but are not too baggy. I tried these on 2 weeks ago to day and they where still too tight. I wore them to work(casual day) and my co-workers kept saying i need to go by some jeans...lol Love my non-scale victory!!

That's great!

My first NSV.... My A1C in January was 10.1. At preop, sometime in April it was 9.9. Two weeks after surgery (early May) it was 8. Endocrinologist was thrilled, already took me off one med.

Thanks everyone for the congrats and encouraging words. It is amazing how all of this is working out. I know i am still a newly banded and there may be time I won't be this excited. I will relish while I can and prepare for some of the possibilities that can happen. CTJohn great job on A1C. January 2014 mine was 11.2 repeat test before surgery (April 2014) was 8.2. I had changed my eating habits and increased the Protein and lower carbs. Can't wait to see what my next A1C will be like in July.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
