Hello - so awesome that you were just posting an update about the support group. I was just online searching when the next one is here at my hospital. I have not been to one yet (10 days post op) but really wanting to do this RIGHT and make it successful. I'm still on puree foods (til 11/25) when I have my 2 week check up. Since surgery day I have lost 10 pounds and feel really good.

Hoping the transition to soft foods goes well and that I stay in control. As I go through this journey I am finding more and more that I have quite the relationship with food. Use it for companionship, entertainment, coping with stress, to Celebrate things. Working on that now....figuring out replacements, etc.

Hope a lot of you can make it to the Saturday, December 20th Breakfast meeting at the Perkins off of University Ave. in Fridley.

I was a little over-zealous in the number of cookbooks and guides I bought before surgery. I'd love to give them to anyone who wants them.

See you on the 20th!

Ho Ho Ho!

Marybeth

Hey Darci! Welcome to the 'losing team'. I sure hope you can join us on Dec 20th at the Perkins in Fridley.

I am one-month post-op this week. I have an appt. with my NUT and nurse on Friday for diet review and weigh-in. I don't feel any different but my pants are a little looser. That's a good sign.

Hope you can make it. You can find me on FB (Lori Feltl). It is easier up connect there - on the November Sleevers (private group page). I like it better bc the info

is better organized than this site. No offense b-pal.

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum; I've been doing my homework on this surgery and am about ready to send in my paperwork. I live in the Mounds View area and would love to meet some of you to hear about your successes!

There are a few of us that created a local meet -n- greet. Our next meeting is on Dec 20th at the Perkins in Fridley (University Ave).

I am 6-weeks post-op now. I don't feel any different internally but I have lost over 25lbs and 6 inches. My pants are looser and need to go down a size. That's a good sign.

Hope you can make it!

Okay, I need a quick head count of who is planning to meet at Perkins in Fridley tomorrow (Saturday 1/20) at 10am?

Mary Beth and Linda aren't able to be there. This get together is open to ANYONE in the Twin Cities. How about the others? Jennifer, Fawn, Molly....

If I don't get any responses, I will assume we are all busy prepping for Christmas festivities.

Let me know....

Lori

I won't be attending tomorrow after all. I hurt my back today and I am on muscle relaxers - which helps but they make me so loopy. No driving for me.

Let's plan to meet next time on Saturday, January 10th at 10am at the Golden Valley Perkins.

- Lori

So is it just down to Fawn and I today? I'm deciding whether or not to go now.

Let's call it off today. Not that I wouldn't want to see just you too, but I've got a busy day planned as I'm sure you do too.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
